During the recent Chiba鈥檚 Food Special Event held at Novotel Hotel Clarke Quay, chef-owner Petrina has crafted a menu from Chiba ingredients obtained from her trip to Chiba Prefecture. . For those who are not familiar with Chiba Prefecture, it is just located adjacent to Tokyo, Japan鈥檚 capital. It is also a consumer鈥檚 paradise, a place that is home to the head offices of many businesses such as Japanese food companies. . Not forgetting the super RED and CUTE Chiba mascot CHI-BA-KUN, a curious creature born and living in Chiba Prefecture. Check him out from the side and you would see its profile shaped like the landform of Chiba Prefecture. . Check out Chef Petrina鈥檚 Special Canape Menu (Small Servings) below: . 鈻笍Stuffed Cabbage Rolled with minced chicken and Ang-chow sauce 鈻笍Hamaguri Konnyaku, served in Dashi using kombu from Chiba Kinmedai with Shiojime & Seaweed Braised Pork Belly with Chiba Shoyu and peanuts 鈻笍Jack Fruit Banana Cake served with Shiro-Miso White Chocolate Sauce . Read on foodgem.sg/travel/japan/chiba-prefecture . Thanks @desertingbeauty for the review.

Let me tell you a #dirtylittlesecret. After nine years (and still going damn strong), the #bestshitresturant in town is #stillnotdead. Yes, you heard me right, the least authentic Middle Eastern restaurant, Artichoke, led by the creative genius Chef Bjorn Shen, is still constantly revolutionizing the food and beverage scene based on strong beliefs and faith, without caring less of the norm. 鈥 The definite and right way of a proper dining experience at Artichoke is to start off with a bag of Turkish bread and a spread of mezzes. Mezzes are essentially a collection of small plates of food served as sharing appetizers to whet your appetite for the mains. What we have on the table are some of the mezzes that are new on the menu such as the Turkish Eggplant ($12), Sea Asparagus ($12) and Crab Toast ($16) while the Hummus with Iraqi Spiced Mushrooms ($14) is an improved version of the previous. The newly band of brothers are perfect to go alongside the Turkish bread, especially the hummus which is creamy, rich and just pure decadent; when paired with the abalone mushrooms that has been seasoned in Baharat, a thyme spice mixed of 7 spices, saut茅ed with olive oil and garlic. The more interesting dish is the Crab Toast whereby instead of a usual one-biter food, this is Artichoke鈥檚 version of a two-biter open-faced 鈥渟andwich鈥, made with blue swimmer crab that鈥檚 mixed with Greek yogurt and other ingredients before topped on housebaked brioche. The finishing touches of adding deep-fried chicken skin and ikura creates the differing texture and flavour. _________________ Artichoke Singapore Address: 161, Middle Road, Singapore 188978 _________________ #sgrestaurants #restaurantsg #exploresingapore #stfoodtrending #burpple #burpplesg #foreverhungry #sgfood #sgig #sgfoodies #instafood_sg #instasg #setheats #hungrygowhere #singaporeinsiders #foodstagram #foodphotography #instafood #buzzfeedfood #aworldtoeat #mediainvite #artichokesg

Thicc Hashbrown ($14++) H O S T E D I said this on my Instagram Story before and I will say it again here for digital posterity: The 鈥淭hicc Hashbrown鈥 at Artichoke is the BEST everrrrrrr!! Think of it as Marche鈥檚 rosti that decided to hit the gym and after months of dedicated training, bulked up and nicely chiseled, then went for an intense suntanning session. The combination of the shredded potato in crisp and moist form, with sour cream, fresh thyme za鈥檃tar and chives, was so enormously addictive I actually gave up extra helpings of the grilled rump cut steak for it. That says everything.

My Favourite New Dish At Artichoke: Sea Asparagus (Price: $12++) MEDIA TASTING For some reason, this dish of Sea Asparagus has taken up permanent residence in my head ever since I had a taste of it. I must admit, I didn鈥檛 expect to get so hung up on the innocuous looking thing but the taste of those scallion oil-tossed briney, crunchy and succulent strands from the salt marshes of Israel with creamy labneh, pickled garlic slices, freshly ground black pepper and buckwheat is something I can鈥檛 forget. A trip back to Artichoke needs to happen soon I reckon.

For 1-for-1 Buffet (~save $60) Meat lovers, jot this one down! This meat-centric Buffet (from $42) housed in Park Hotel Alexandra serves up superb roasts in a comfy setting. While there isn't a wide variety, the salt-grilled Ana Paula Black Angus Ribeye and the succulent Spit-Roasted Chicken with Truffle are sure to satisfy. Also good is the Seafood Medley, comprising fresh prawns and squid in a tasty broth. Photo by Burppler SG Food On Foot

Beef (Dry-Aged, Slow Roasted) Finally had some time for a longer lunch, and decided to head to The Carvery to try the meat buffet. The beef and lamb was fabulous! They even had different types of sea salt that would go with the meats - charcoal, red lava sea salt, mixed spices sea salt. Personally, I liked the mixed spices sea salt the best - it went very well with the beef and gave it more texture and flavour. The service staff were prompt and alert to ensure my water was topped up; they took the time to speak with me - asking if I鈥檝e tried their carving station and even explained how that they dry-aged their beef for approximately 2 weeks before they slow roast it, then roast it in their charcoal oven. In addition, they had 2 types of goat cheeses, which is rare for any restaurants or buffets. It may not be everyone鈥檚 top choice but I loved it So thumbs up on this! Their pork knuckle is usually for dinners; and on weekends, they would have 2 different types of beef available. This probably explains the difference in the buffet price. A buffet for the meat lovers!

They were not kidding when they said that their rotasserie chicken is their specialty. The meat was really tender and juicy, and didn't need any sauce to go with it. Rather than the variety, their quantity do shine for certain dishes such as their wood fire pizzas and bread pudding. Worth it if you get the 1 for 1 @chopesg voucher for about $50!

4 Oz Cup, Double Scoop ($5) This is hands-down-without-a-doubt my favourite ice cream place! 馃挄馃挄 Their flavours never fails to impress and there is such an extensive variety despite changing the flavours every day! Truly the hardest decision to make when you only get 4 flavours to choose, but the staff are an absolute delight and were so friendly and helpful in letting us try many flavours while even explaining to us the ingredients! Truly A+ service and A+ ice cream, and so extremely worth with burpple Beyond (I would totally still buy it even without discounts)! Really liked the Chocolate Sorbet (rich creamy and oh-so-chocolatey!), Nasty Mix (snickers bar in ice cream form omg) and Genmaicha (matcha and brown tea ice cream from Matchaya that鈥檚 a little fuller and more milky than the usual Matcha flavour). The salted caramel cheesecake was nice but personal preference for the first 3 flavours still 馃檭馃檭 Definitely worth a trip (or many more) for really good ice cream!

One Of My Favs Parmesan Cheese Ice Cream was one of my favs 馃 Cream cheese cracker chunks amidst the cheesey slightly salty ice cream, I was really just a sucker for this flavour, and writing this now I kinda miss it 馃お . Milo Dinosaur was basically what was described. Tasted exactly like a Milo Dinosaur but maybe just less thick and more mild! It wasn鈥檛 suuuper unique but it did pair well with the cheese! 馃ぉ . Rum and Raisin: more rum than raisin imo, and this was one of the flavours I didn鈥檛 really like! :-( . Tried many other flavours like Salted Kaya (actually really GOOD and tasted like the real thing) and peanut butter etc and I must applaud the many unique flavours done by Tom鈥檚 palette instead of your usual earlgrey/ thaimilktea etc 鈽猴笍 Ig @goodfomood
