🎶We’re fighting this WAR-ffles, baby, when both of us are losing~🎶 . Well, I’m always losing the battle when facing desserts so what’s new right?! 😂😂😂 My ideal waffles have to be perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining moist & substantial inside (not too fluffy nor dense), with the buttery waffle flavours filling your mouth in every bite. 💕 Honestly speaking, the waffles here at Non-Entrée was not impressive, just decent. So let’s just focus on the ice cream! 😎 . The good quality of the ice cream was evident from the relatively slow rate of melting! 👏🏻 Both my scoops were lusciously creamy & flavourful so let me introduce them: . 🔹️BLACK SESAME: having an old-school tastebud, I absolutely LOVED this! ❤❤❤ Extremely smooth & full of the nutty flavours of black sesame, be prepared to have the fragrance of black sesame linger in your mouth for some time. 🤤 Liked that it was not overly sweet either so it just tasted intensely rich & authentic to its raw form (excluding any unpleasant sandy texture) - a testimony to the generosity of ingredients used. 💯 . 🔹️PISTACHIO: a less aromatic version compared to black sesame, this is still an enjoyable creamy treat with a strong hint of the nutty tones of pistachio. 💚 Would have loved for the pistachio flavours to be more pronounced though, as that would really complement the warm buttery waffles really well. 👍🏻 . They offer many different ice cream flavours, some that boast of local flavours such as Gula Melaka, Pandan Kaya & even White Rabbit (remember the chewy milk candy we used to eat when we were young? ⭐). You’ll be spoilt for choice! This waffles with 2 scoops of ice cream ($13.75 nett) will be good for sharing! 👌🏻
Matcha Avalanche ($13.90) The matcha avalanche takes some time to assemble as it comprises of a lava cake filled with matcha white chocolate warm lava with azuki beans flowing onto chocolate soil, vibrant edible flowers, crunchy almond nougatine and roasted green tea gelato. It’s a real sight to see when it’s served. I believe the way it’s supposed to be eaten is to cut into the lava cake so that the matcha lava flows into the hole in the nougatine to envelope the gelato and chocolate soil. Unfortunately, butter fingers (aka me) utterly destroyed the gorgeous dessert and broke through the nougatine layer so the whole lava cake ended inside the glass bowl. Despite that misshap, the dessert tastes as amazing as it looks. The matcha lava is thick, aromatic and has a lingering bitter aftertaste. It’s balanced nicely with the white chocolate so the resultant mixture isn’t too sweet nor bitter. I love the contrasting textures and flavours of the thick matcha lava, creamy houjicha gelato, crunchy almond nougatine, plus crunchy chocolate soil bits. The houjicha flavour does tend to be lost in the mixture as it’s muted so perhaps the only thing that could be improved is a bolder roasted flavour - and also some instructions on the optimal way to cut the lava cake for dummies like myself 😂
Ochiba Koi Okinawa Black Sugar Mousse, Mango Apricot, Ginger Jam, White Chocolate Almond Crunch. Non Entrée Desserts had recently launched their new series of Zen entremet cakes, featuring Koi fishes in various colours and flavours. Thought the Ochiba Koi was the more daring one of the lot with its flavour judging from the various elements used. While the Okinawa Black Sugar Mousse did bring a slightly earthy note to the white chocolate Mousse, we felt that the white chocolate mousse was on the sweeter side and could have carried a more intense note of the black sugar to bring those flavours even further. Otherwise, the ginger jam did provide a slight spiced zing that cuts through a hit of that sweetness and the tropical notes of the mango apricot, while the white chocolate almond crunch helps to add a crunchy texture to provide a textural contrast to the cake overall.

Pistacchio & Ondeh Ondeh While there are quite the assortment of quirky and bold flavours on rotation at Butterknife Folk, a firm favourite of mine at any ice cream parlour is the classic Pistacchio gelato. Luckily their rendition came smooth, rich and completely worth the calories. And the scoop sitting atop is their Ondeh Ondeh, which captured the essence of thedessert. It was lusciously creamy with a strong dose of coconut, pandan and streaks of gula melaka as well as grated coconut for that extra bit of texture.
Double scoop [$8/cup or cone]. . NEW vegan TEA flavours - Coco matcha & Houjicha, made in-house in collaboration with @matchayasg 🍵! Differing from most houjicha gelato, the one here is made without milk, which resembled more of a sorbet, light and refreshing. Texture is smooth albeit slightly icy, with the characteristic roasted flavour and fragrance still bearing distinctive notes, though I would have personally prefer it to be more intense. As it’s made without dairy/milk, you can expect yourself to be having a semi-solid version of a clear Houji tea, one that’s lighter to the palate and less thick and creamy as compared to a milk-based one. On the other hand, the coco matcha is made using coconut milk as its base which eventually (and expectedly) overwhelmed its earthy, umami counterpart, with only subtle notes of the matcha being evident here. My favorite flavour among the 3 would be the Fudgy brownie (hidden below the scoop of Coco Matcha in the cup) that’s made with a Dark Chocolate base embedded with fudgy brownie chunks which were fudgy, gooey and sufficiently moist, slightly sticky as well that adds a dimension of texture to the smooth, creamy bittersweet dark chocolate gelato. A pity it’s not available anymore now but do check out @butterknifefolk ig story for their daily update of flavours! 🍨 . Who knows there might be new (or better) surprises that awaits?! 😉 . . . #burpple #butterknifefolk #sgfoodie
Grownup Apple Pie (single scoop) ($5) This is a homey yummy apple pie flavor with bits of crust and a twist of bourbon. It was sufficiently creamy yet not too gelat. The flavors change quite frequently, and there are so many interesting flavors here like mulled wine etc. So every time you go back, it’s possible that the flavors may not be the same. You can try the flavors! Quite a cosy spot with yummy ice cream.

So Good You Have To Bring Them Home! Three's a Crowd's ice cream is no stranger to me, as I would say that this cafe's homemade ice cream do have their standards. I got their 300g tub ($10 for normal flavours 1 for 1 with #burpplebeyond) because their ice cream really do stand out. The 2 flavours in the picture are my recommendations, as they are not too sweet. They also compliment each other well, as the chocolate flavour is REALLY rich, while the kris grey (earl grey) flavour is light and refreshing.
Good Quality Ice Cream You Will Want To Leave Your Appetite For Craving for desserts after your meal? You know where to go. Three's a Crowd ice cream is really smooth and flavours are strong as well. I ordered their double scoop ice cream ($3/$3.50 per scoop for normal/premium flavours 1 for 1 with #burpplebeyond) and their pandan waffles ($7) to go with them. The chocolate flavour is a must get, as it is not so sweet, but yet so rich on their chocolate flavours. Kris Grey flavour is a neutralizing flavour if you are getting many rich flavours, as it is not sweet and the early grey tea notes is really refreshing. The pandan waffles, though crispy and fluffy, were too salty and I will just take it to be a one-off thing. The service there is really good as always, and it does complete the whole dining experience!
check out that bright green in these pandan waffles! crisp on the outside and so fluffy on the inside. defo as good or even btr than creamier! the ice cream was smooth and pretty decent too ~~
