Great value, great taste Visited the Takashimaya branch on Sunday for our family lunch. Our first visit! As per Burpple reviews, we ordered the Cool Sea Crab Leg Aglio Olio for pasta and the Lost Atlantean Kingdom Seafood Pizza. It took a while for the food to reach our table considering it was fairly empty at the time of our visit (just 2 other tables to be exact). But considering that they cook everything fresh from scratch upon receiving the orders, I’ll let that go. The pasta came out first. Our first impression was that the portion size was smaller than what we anticipated. However, the taste delivered. Onsen egg was on point! 👌🏻 Flowed out like a gushing river once broken. Generous portion of the crab meat. They came in sizeable chunks! Then came the pizza. Impressed with the array of seafood distributed around it. There were mussels, shrimp, squid and scallops. They too came in sizeable portions! Overall, was a very pleasant dining experience! Worth every penny especially with the 1 for 1 Burpple deal! 👍🏻👍🏻

For 1-for-1 Main Dish (save ~$35) This DC-themed cafe serves up Western fusion fare that's both a feast for the eyes and the palate. Get the Lost Atlantean Kingdom Seafood Pizza ($28) to share, which features fresh shrimps, mussels and scallops on housemade pizza dough. The al dente and flavourful King of Atlantis Crab Leg Aglio Olio ($26.90) is another must-have. Photo by Burppler Cheryl Teo

Burger For The Superheroes Not for the weak, duper juicy patty, served with nachos and salsa at side. Instagram worthy at this place, definitely worth a visit if you love Superheroes from DC! (However can get pricey). A large variety of dishes there. (Don’t miss the door cuz I almost did)

Dinner in the Dark ($88++ for 12 tasting dishes). I thoroughly enjoyed my first dinner experience at NOX, even though they've been around since 2013. It was an emotive dinner experience, as I went through excitement and anxiety, followed by plenty of mystery and fun as I got used to the darkness. 🔸 The loss of vision is said to heighten your sense of taste, though I'm not exactly sure of that, as it could be attributed to the use of stronger flavours and more premium ingredients. However, what is certain is that I heard every word my dining companions said over dinner (yes, no distractions due to mobile phones or checking out of cute people across the table!). Good place for bonding. 🔸 Even if you've been here before, you could consider checking it out again as they have a new Head Chef Shahrom, as well as locally inspired cocktails and mystery drink tasting experiences by Head Bartender Hussien. 🔸 Dinner menu changes monthly, but should always consist of 3 courses with 4 tasting dishes per course (4 appetizer, 4 mains, and 4 desserts). For an additional $50++ per person, you can opt for their newly launched mystery cocktail tasting experience featuring three libations; or $40++ for three wines to pair with the dinner. 🔸 Pictured is my pre-dinner cocktail - Raspberry Dance ($20++) with Vodka, Peach Liqueur, Egg White, Lemon and Raspberries. A sweet and refreshing drink to get you in the mood first :) 🔸 🔸 [Hosted]

Unique Experience Have u ever tried dining in complete darkness? Now I can say I have. As one of your senses is made redundant, your taste buds senses become more sensitive. The food we had was very flavourful, we had a fun time trying to identify the food we had at the end of dinner. Very very expensive though Great experience, but I may not return again due to the price of this place. Total damage for two(with cocktail package):$340(after gst)

For a Dining Adventure in the Dark Apart from the fact that eating in complete darkness is a unique dining experience we recommend trying at least once in your life, NOX also supports and provides employment to visually impaired individuals, all of whom have been trained to guide and serve — which they do with utmost professionalism! Like NOX aptly writes on its website, "it is a truly human experience when the roles are reversed and the blind become your eyes". The meal begins with a cocktail in the warmly lit romantic lounge (this place is perfect for a cheeky date night!), after which the prix fixe dinner ($88 per person) is a mystery menu consisting of 12 dishes set over three courses. Trust us — it is perfectly okay to dig in with your hands. You can choose to add on wine pairing (from $30 for two glasses) and request for a vegetarian or vegan menu. Bring your sense of fun and adventure. Reservations highly recommended. Price: $88 per person Photo by Burppler Rachael Wong

UFO (Unusual Food Outlet). Located at Jurong Point Shopping Centre, JP 2 Mongkok Street #03-89D, right opposite Crystal Jade Kitchen. Newly open shop that sells Sweet Crepe, Savoury Crepe, Japanese Rice & Drinks. All their crepes were based on French recipe and made locally here in the shop. These crepes are amazing! They are crispy on the outside, but still maintain softness in some areas in the Crepe. They created more local flavours to suit our taste bud too. This time round, we tried their Signature from the Sweet Crepe range - Sweet Nutella Sweet Potatoes & Marshmallows Crepe, $4.20. Crepe was fragrantly thin and crispy. They are quite generous with their fillings! From the top view, we can see their purple and orange sweet potatoes, marshmallow, Nutella!! Perfectly satisfying and yummy for our sweet tooth, and it’s worth-the-money as it’s rather filing! • • Thank you, Darius for hosting us! He’s very warm, friendly and even explained in detail to us the way how the crepes are used to bring out the flavor of the food! @ufosgp #hungryunicornsg #ufosgp #crepes #crepe #sweetcrepes

Nutella Sweet Potatoes & Marshmallows Crepe Situated at Jurong Point’s Mongkok Street, this is an Unusual Food Outlet (UFO) you won’t want to miss. Opened just around September last year, its menu offers a selection of mainly sweet and savoury crepes. To complete your meal, you can simply add-on a refreshing drink of your choice such as their signature, Yuzu Plum Soda. I absolutely love the yogurt popping bobas in it! Featured here is their signature sweet crepes, a perfect harmony of Nutella, sweet potatoes and marshmallows. As introduced by the owner, the crepes here at UFO are made to be on the softer side, alike French Crêpes, while still maintaining that slight crisp at the top area. It was certainly a great dessert to end the night and I can foresee myself trying the savoury crepes soon! Thanks @ufosgp for the invite! Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

In the end, we tried their Signature Savoury Sweet Potato Crepe - Salted Egg Chicken, $5.30. Salted egg sauce was fragrant and yet not overwhelming.. the chicken were so tender and juicy as they uses chicken thigh! Everything was so awesomely good!! The Yuzu Plum Soda (L), $4.50 was tasty! Soda drink infused with Yuzu plum and tasty yogurt flavour balls caught us by surprise as it burst in your mouth! It can be stacked together for convenience eating too! • • Thank you Darius for hosting us! Bao Makers 13/07/19 (Part 3/3) True to their name, the baos were what truly stood out in this restaurant. Now, if only they could be bigger... Chili Crab Bao ($4.50) 'Deep fried bun, fresh crabmeat with Singapore style chilli sauce' Simply comforting, deep-fried 'mantou' with loads of crabmeat drenched in a sweet and spicy chili crab sauce; Favourite bao. Taste: 10/10 Salted Egg Chicken Bao ($4.30) 'Steamed sesame bun, signature salted egg sauce, seasoned fried chicken' If you love salted egg, you will love this bun. Loaded with creamy salted egg goodness and a really juicy and crunchy slab of chicken. Taste: 10/10 Salmon Mentaiko Bao ($4.30) 'Steamed white bun, fried salmon, cod roe sauce, cheese, tobiko' This bao is essentially an elevated version of my salmon mentaiko bowl, with the rice being replaced by sweet fluffy buns and a rich cheese flavour to complement the mentaiko salmon. (Unfortunately, I do not remember the tobiko in the bun) Taste: 9/10 Overall, felt that this restaurant was a tad pricey without the discount but I guess I should be expecting that due to where its located. While the rice bowls are the ones that will fill you up here, I would strongly suggest skipping them and going straight for their baos. Personally, I will only come back again if I've another huge discount. See more at: https://www.instagram.com/p/B0I7iruAHEY/?igshid=1nd1dlal3h0a3

Bao Makers 13/07/19 (Part 2/3) Teriyaki Beef Steak ($17.80) 'Pan seared beef steak, house blend teriyaki sauce, onsen egg' This main was a lot better mainly because the rice was drenched in their house blend teriyaki sauce which was not too sweet. In fact, the rice was so flavourful that I did not mind eating it on its own. The beef steak itself was nicely seared and provided a nice slightly saltish contrast to the dish; Strong beefy flavour as well. I think my only gripe with this bowl would be that more beef could have been given. Taste: 8/10 See more at: https://www.instagram.com/p/B0I67_2gf3Y/?igshid=1059j7pdpylvj
