Penang Char Kway Teow ($5.50) Aromatic "wok-hei" permeated the oodles of noodles completely. And because it was relatively grease-free, I hardly felt the twinge of guilt that usually accompanies the act of me falling face first into a plate of "char kway teow". The only thing I would change about this is the beansprouts. They could do with some fattening up.

Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun Soup ($4.50) I have walked past here several times at night and it's always full of customers feasting on their steaming hot pots of "Malacca Satay Lok Lok". I haven't tried it for myself so I can't comment but I did have their "Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun Soup" and it was really satisfying. They're generous with the smooth rice noodles - almost too generous in fact. And although the plentiful shredded chicken breast meat was a bit on the stringy side, all was forgiven when I sipped the soup. It was clear but full of flavour, and it had crispy bits of fried pork lard in it! Ok, anything with fried pork lard gets me beaming, so I was immediately nodding my head happily as I sucked up every drop of soup from the bowl. They also have this wonderful spicy chicken rice chilli sauce which went very well with the "hor fun" and shredded chicken. Another plus point is they are open till 2am every single night so I know where to go if I feel like having a healthy supper :)

Not Impressed Heard so much about their food and has been wanting to come for a while now. Finally headed down for lunch around 3+ with an empty stomach so I ordered quite a bit: beef rendang, vegetables lodeh, sambal goreng, sotong, ayam bakar and bergedil for two pax. Was so hungry that i forgot to snap a pic. Overall, their food was quite salty, especially the rendang. Not sure if it was just that day but couldn鈥檛 bring myself to finish it as other dishes was salty as well.. even the bergedil. Weird. Other dishes were really mediocre and even the chili was pretty mild and do not have the kick to it. Despite being pricier, I will choose Hajjah Maimunah anyday for the variety and taste. Honestly, very disappointed :(

My version of comfort food. . | While their stall front was serving small dishes to walk in like myself, they loading containers and containers of takeaways to cars. . | Everything was good but just the ayam Masak was rather cold. The spices used in the dishes gave a good kick to the palate. Right before my mouth was on fire, the milk tea came to the rescue.

Ikan Panggang The popular "Ikan Panggang" at this famous eatery comes doused in inky "kicap manis" and smothered in chunkily-chopped raw onions and chillies. A splotch of "sambal belado" completes the essential condiments. I did, however, detect a lack of smokiness and that essential blackened char to the fish skin in today's order. Which left me a little disappointed I have to say. Hopefully, it's just a one-off.

Nasi Padang $9.8 Say hello to my little friend 鈥 fully loaded nasi padang from our favourite hole-in-the-wall in Far East Plaza. Curry chicken, sayur lodeh, ikan bilis, begedil, and 2 eggs(because I can) 鈥 salted egg and telur masal kicap. Don鈥檛 forget the blow-your-head-off chilli sauce for that sadistically spicy kick. Limited seats available so go early. Taste: 4/5

Nasi Padang I wasn't even supposed to have lunch here, but the apparent queue forming outside the shop and the smell of fried chicken wafting through the corridors surrounding the shop proved too hard for me to resist. There are quite a number of dishes to choose from, seemingly prepared in Indonesian style, and a number of curries available too; I went for the fried potato, fried chicken (of course!) and the sunny side-up that seemed to be cooked with a kecap manis-esque sauce and onions for $7. All the dishes were delicious; from the crisp batter of the fried potato consisting of mushy and fluffy potatoes within carrying just a light touch of saltiness to the lightly crisp yet surprisingly succulent and juicy fried chicken done Indo-style with lemongrass and the egg; despite not being able to flow with its solid yolk, but the kecap manis worked really well for a little sweetness like how some love to eat their sunny side up with soya sauce. Opt to drench the rice with their Chicken Curry; extremely creamy, rich and Lemak with its deep coconut flavours and also one option that fits best with those who can't take spiciness. Two types of chili is served here; sweet or spicy 鈥 the latter is one that is similar to the Indonesian-style chili you get with Ayam Penyet. A particularly hidden gem in Orchard, and even though the place is modest and sits 17 with a little squeeze, it's definitely worth checking out for a meal below $10 in Orchard Road that gives a lot of bang for the buck 鈥 satisfaction guaranteed. PS: Pardon me for this weird photo; Nasi Padangs aren't the easiest thing to take photos of especially when you are caught at a cramped communal table meant for 8 in a small eatery with all the patrons and people in the queue looking at you.

Ayam Baker Set This set is pretty interesting as it is served with the Ayam Bakar, coated with balado and is accompanied by some greens mixed with gado gado gravy. While I do enjoy this combination, I felt the chicken could be improved as there wasn鈥檛 the classic 鈥楤akar鈥 aftertaste and chicken wasn鈥檛 cooked that well. Will probably stick to the other signature dishes the next time. 馃敼 馃敼 馃敼 馃敼 #superbisteo#ayampenyet#superbistrosg#chickenrice#simpangbedok#cafesg#ayambakar#halalsg#eatsg#delicious#singapore#singaporefood#sgfoodporn#sgfoodie#sgfood#foodsg#foodporn#superpenyet#instasg#foodpics#foodgasm#instasg#sgfoodies#openrice#hungrygowhere#burpple#burpplesg#sgmakandiary#makanwarrior#stfoodtrending

Salted Egg Yolk Ayam Goreng Happy Hari Raya to all our Muslim friends! Here is A piece of chicken which certainly stands out as it is laded with salted egg yolk sauce. Though the sauce is not the 鈥榓uthentic鈥 type, it is good enough for me. Almost creamy with a hint of sweetness. Most definitely this works on the nicely fried piece of chicken thigh! 馃敼 馃敼 馃敼 馃敼 #superbisteo#ayampenyet#superbistrosg#chickenrice#simpangbedok#cafesg#saltedeggyolk#halalsg#eatsg#delicious#singapore#singaporefood#sgfoodporn#sgfoodie#sgfood#foodsg#foodporn#superpenyet#instasg#foodpics#foodgasm#instasg#sgfoodies#openrice#hungrygowhere#burpple#burpplesg#sgmakandiary#makanwarrior#stfoodtrending
