Red Bean Corn And Durian 3.5nett Really watery, kind of like soup. What stands out was the distinctive savoury flavour from the soft chendol and Corn paste, as well as the salty coconut milk. Gula melaka was complex but the red bean paste was average. Durian paste wasnt top quality but tasted really good when mixed in.
Red bean chendol ($1.80) I have been pretty crazy about chendol ever since having it in Penang. Especially on a scorching hot day, to have a bowl of ice cold chendol is just so shiok. Not too sure what's the actual difference between an authentic Melaka and Penang chendol, but I find the chendol at Makan Melaka seems to be really heavy on coconut milk, which made the dessert a lil too creamy. A simple dessert, priced cheaply at $1.80, you get a big scoop of the green pandan-flavored chendol (somehow the colour of the chendol here is very light too), heap of red bean, shaved ice with the gula melaka of just right sweetness, and some ingredients at the bottom like attap seeds and grass jelly. They have different variations such as corn, durian and other toppings too!

Crazy For Cendol Our family鈥檚 go-to place for some authentic kick-ass cendol at my neighbourhood, Cendol Melaka鈥檚 version isn鈥檛 cloying rich yet still as sinful. The perfect sweet ending to any meal, their鈥檚 come highly customizable with different combinations for the toppings (red bean, corn, glutinous rice and durian puree). The classics go for under $2 but addition of ice cubes and shaved ice are chargeable for an additional 20cents and 30cents respectively. And with just the three basic components - coconut milk, gula melaka and pandan flavoured vermiform noodle (cendol), the simple dessert can be enjoyed in any weather. Sweet and slightly salty, I love mine with a mound of red bean paste; the thick gula melaka with its complex sweetness is so shiok when accompanied by the punch of lingering pandan fragrance from the slippery-smooth cendol strands. The coconut milk was also refreshing and thirst-quenching which is balanced by the natural caramelised flavour of the liquid palm sugar. #BurppleBestofJurong
