Was hoping for a good burger from burger joint new york. That withering look with the chilling phrase of 鈥渄o I look like I want to eat a burger?鈥 killed all hopes. Not too bad for a random restaurant choice - the beef for the main dish was way better than the signature binchotan.

If you still have not heard of @lebinchotan @jemm_cooks special supper series, don鈥檛 miss out! Jeremmy has teamed up with 3 special friends to bring us some special supper dishes. Coming up on 9-11 May, you鈥檒l get to taste Jeremmy鈥檚 famous Hokkien Mee and his 16h braised beef cheek in dumpling form, alongside @sameernoog ex-Fat Lulu #noburnnotaste platter and vegetable chips. The platter comprises previous Fat Lulu鈥檚 favourite, the Iberico Pork Sataytay; chicken wings, grilled slow and low; and Sam鈥檚 Phu Quoc Pork Ribs, inspired by the surprise obsession he developed after tasting the ribs at a street food stall in Vietnam. And chicken wings! Boy do I love a balanced diet of meats, seafood and some veggies! Hurry grab your seat at https://www.eventbrite.sg/e/le-binchotan-supper-special-2019-tickets-59939161646! #jeremmyandfriends

I鈥檒l work out harder for the 3 month long supper series at @lebinchotan! From 25 Apr, @jemm_cooks will team up with 3 special friends to bring us some special supper dishes. First with @archan_n of @level33_sg of LeVeL33; then with @sameernoog ex-Fat Lulu; and father of heritage food @the_rebel_chef of @folkloresg. For each special weekend, one of these friends would be cooking alongside Jeremmy to present 1 small plate and 1 big plate per chef. You get 4 special supper dishes for only $35++! To kick things off, on 25-27 Apr, ArChan will be doing her Stir-fried Clams with homemade XO Sauce for her special main. Train your tastebuds to see if you can pick out the beer in this sauce! I鈥檇 save some of the clams for Jeremmy鈥檚 Prawn Noodle Soup to further flavor the 4 hour pork bone and prawns broth. Will share the other highlights in the next few posts!

For Rustic Fare on Laidback Date Nights Tucked away in quiet Sunset Way, this quaint French bistro serves home-style comfort fare. The menu may be small, but the quality of the dishes make up for it. Order the wonderfully moist Roast Chicken ($32, half portion), marinated with a fragrant herb butter and roasted to golden brown perfection, and end your meal with the velvety Dark Chocolate Tart with Cream ($8). Trust us, it's worth saving tummy space for. Photo by Burppler Muriel AvdH

Summer Lovin鈥 Hidden away sunset way is one our our favourite bistros in Singapore, Summer Hill. Opened by Chefs Anthony Yeoh and Christopher Soh, formally of the now defunct Cocotte Restaurant at Wandurlust Hotel, Summer Hill continues to focus on what they were always known for, Home-style and comforting dishes. Don鈥檛 expect a large menu as Summer Hill focuses on a few few specialities that are focused on the ingredients and done exceptionally well! One of my favorites is the Fried Veal Chop. It鈥檚 tender, juicy and if you鈥檙e a veal lover than this is an absolutely must have. However, our favourite thing to come for is their Fried Chicken Day! Every few months, Summer Hill will have fried chicken day and they serve one of THE BEST fried chicken around! The skin is crispy, with a slightly sweet twang that comes from the brown butter herbs, honey and lemon. The herbs adds wonderful earthy balance to the dish and the buttermilk definitely helps make the chicken extra tender and juicy. And no worries, Summer Hill also offers some fantastic salads like the Creamy Ricotta and Marinated Tomato Salad that helps add a bit of acidity to the meal. So if you鈥檙e looking for somewhere casual with cozy alfresco dining and some really good food, head down to Summer Hill!

Chicken And The Brown Sauce Back here again and a great place to chill with friends on Friday Night, not too noisy and great for conversations. I polished this dish. Chicken was not so dry this time around and I really enjoyed the brown sauce that went well with everything from the chicken to the mash. Skip the fries which were a little blend. I鈥檒l return for the desserts and fried chicken day!

Always a big love of dry aged beef but is very hard to find in Singapore. Be amazed at how the same piece of Black Angus beef can taste differently at different stages of aging (3/6 weeks). The steak tasted better dry aged as the meat starts to break down over time resulting in more tender and flavourful with a more robust and beefy taste. I would like to have the steak on its own. Alternatively, you may also dip into the recommended sauces such as blue cheese, red wine and bearnaise sauce to bring out the flavours. . Ginett鈥檚 dry-aged specials starting from S$46++ and are available in prime cuts of Black Angus beef. . Where to dine? Ginett Restaurant & Wine Bar 200 Middle Rd, Singapore 188980

Delectable Caf茅 Food Opposite Serangoon Stadium! Incorporating cherry tomatoes into the Crab Meat Pasta was a great idea. The sweetness of the tomatoes made the dish even more appealing and appetising. Read more: https://www.misstamchiak.com/eleven-strands/

Taking over the space that used to reside Kombi Rocks, Eleven Strands is the new occupant of this shop unit and is opened by none other than the people behind South Union Park. We were there bright and early on a weekend and the caf茅 was filled up pretty quickly by lunchtime. We got the Smoked Salmon and Avocado ($19) from the brunch menu, BBQ Baby Pork Ribs ($24), Bacon Cream Pasta ($22) and a couple of starters like chicken wings and sweet potato fries from the regular menu to share. The standouts have got to be the cream pasta and pork ribs, the former managing to strike a balance in terms of the flavours to avoid the gelat-ness that most cream-based pastas have while the latter is a plate of slow-cooked ribs that have been brushed with a BBQ sauce and served with potato wedges and coleslaw. _________________ Eleven Strands Address: 66, Yio Chu Kang Road, Singapore 545568

Exploring the hood~ Hidden behind Serangoon Stadium and taking over Kombi Rock space is the new sister cafe of South Union Park. Which I need to revisit soon...miss that scrumptious Jap-style breakfast platter I had! Limited selection on brunch menu though they offer a wider variety of pastas and mains such as Grilled Pork Chop and Wagyu Beef Burger. We settled for Smoked Salmon & Avocado ($19), Bacon Cream Pasta ($22), BBQ Pork Ribs ($24) along with small bites like Crispy Wings and Sweet Potato Fries. Overall a satisfying lunch, though i felt it鈥檚 kinda pricey in a hood like this. Eleven Strands Address: 66 Yio Chu Kang Road, Singapore 545568 #elevenstrandssg

Signature Seafood Platter (Grande Size: $175++) This was probably the most classic of seafood platters I鈥榙 come across in a while. As we were a party of four, our server recommended the Grande size and it suited us well. Arranged neatly over the two tiers on the silver tray was the Chef鈥檚 selection of Maine lobster, jumbo prawns, fresh oysters (they were on the small side that day but still lovely), mussels, clams, ceviches and tartares. Four kinds of sauces and a miniature bottle of Tabasco came along with the seafood so we could mix and match them according to our preference. The only way to do a #seafoodplatter justice is to eat it with your hands, and that is what we did.

Our Super Love of the nite - A Dozen Oysters ($75) 馃挄 Couldn鈥檛 get enough of the slurping goodness 馃構 Our order of preference was the plump & rich ones from Rhode Island followed by the juicy & creamy ones from Salten Point & lastly the fresh but bland ones from Pacific Washington 馃槝馃槝 馃悮 700gm Grilled Maine Lobster ($98) was so delightfully delicious with its sweet, soft yet springy texture with umami sauce 馃槝 馃悮 USDA Prime Ribeye ($80) was juicy & yummilicious! Tenderness just right, every chew was an enjoyment of flavor 馃槝 馃ォ Crab Cakes ($36) was another of our must have! Packed & filled with fabulous crabmeat 馃槝 馃 Lobster Salad ($39) was a good starter as we love burrata & surprisingly the beetroot didn鈥檛 put me off 馃槀 馃 The sides - Saut茅ed Broccolini ($17) was good but Wild Mushrooms ($15) was too salty. The starter bread basket was amazing! It was an enticing lure to the beginning of the fabulous dining experience 馃槆 馃 #burpple

WhatSUB friends! Im having an awesome SUB here! 馃構馃構馃構 . Although PAUL offers many types of sandwiches for takeaway, this Smoked Salmon Sandwich ($9.90) simply stole my heart! 鉂 . JUST LOOK at how generous they are with the amount of smoked salmon slices! 馃槏馃槏馃槏 U can be guaranteed a good mouthful of that smoky & savoury goodness in every bite!! Yup, that's all i need! 鉁 . Featuring sesame PAUL fl没te laid with crunchy romaine lettuce, fresh juicy tomatoes & an entire stretch of soft smoked salmon, this really is my kind of sandwich! 馃挄馃挄 As my sandwich was freshly made, the exterior of my bread had a good crunch. Suggest to finish it off before it cools as it WILL get hard 馃槄 . Really liked the sesame atop the bread which added some fragrance & nutty flavours! 馃憤馃徎 The lemon cream cheese spread also added a citrusy zest that complemented the smoked salmon very well! 馃構 . Other sandwich choices include Salmon & Avocado ($9.90), Sesame Camembert ($7.80), Sandwich Dieppois (Tuna; $7.90), Viennois Dinde (Smoked turkey breast, $8.70) etc.. so spoilt for choice! 馃ぃ

馃崬 My ideal breakfast. Ham blanketed by cheese and omelette, resting on top a soft, delicate potato pancake. Toast crunchy, but soft enough that it鈥檚 easy to sink into. Seabass Fillet This Pan-fried Seabass Fillet was highly recommended by the staff but it failed to impress us. The portion was substantial which made it really value for money. 馃ぉ Props to the chunky & firm flesh with no fishy taste, which is an indication of its freshness. 馃挄馃憤馃徎 However, the flesh tasted quite bland on its own - we could not taste the natural sweetness of the fish. 馃様 . Since the flesh was plain-tasting, the sauce had a lot to do to pull this dish off. I was expecting some citrusy lemon cream, garlic herb or some red wine sauce with caramelised onion sauce to pair with the fish but instead, the sauce carried a very oriental flavour. 馃槀馃槀馃槀 Can鈥檛 really put my finger to it but it tasted really familiar - the same way my mum cooks a pan-fried fish at home! Like some hoisin & oyster sauce? 馃 . Served with French beans & carrot pur茅e on the side, this was decent but quite an average dish. Guess PAUL is still best at its bakes & pastries! 馃ぃ
