Classic Afternoon Tea: Origins Though the tai-tai life didn’t choose me, there's nothing quite like taking an afternoon off and living the posh life. And so with InterContinental Singapore’s Executive Pastry Chef Ben Goh’s Classic Afternoon Tea: Origins at The Lobby Lounge, get a treat for two at $78++. Daily 2pm to 5pm, from now till 31st October; sip on tea as you take in the live music, nibble on sumptuous petit-fours and pig out on their small selection of ice cream which you can help yourself to unlimited servings at the counter (yes you heard that right, UNLIMITED ice cream). And so, the highlight for me included the savoury Bacon Onion Quiche, fancy morsels of Mantou embellished with Crab Meat, Avocado, Prawns, and Caviar as well as soft-buttery scones. The Cranberry Lemon and English Scones went perfectly with the trio of strawberry jam, fig jam and clotted cream. Also, pinkies up for the warm Wild Mushroom Cappuccino with White Truffle Cream and toasted baguette. Wondrously creamy, the flavours were spot on and my favourite of the lot! For the sweet tooths, the Chocolate Lemongrass Pineapple Cake was a well-balanced take on the usual chocolate mousse cake. The Kueh Lapis were firm, fragrant and not greasy at all. Lastly, you have to save some tummy space as you can’t miss out on their Yoghurt Yuzu ice cream that can serve as a great palate cleanser - tangy, and refreshing with a touch of tartness.
Classic Afternoon Tea $78 for two This is the August 2019 menu. Especially enjoyed the quiche, surprised because most of the high tea places have underwhelming savoury items. Love how they put so much thought into each item, and it’s not just icing and creme.
Just thinking about this Classic Afternoon Tea: Secret Garden experience that I had forty-one Annabelles ago at The Lobby Lounge at InterContinental Singapore (@interconsin). The afternoon tea experience, available between 2 May to 15 July 2018, is inspired by the magic and flora of the children’s classic, The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. ⠀ You can expect both savoury items (notable items include the playfully sushi-esque tamago furikake egg sandwich and the delicately floral smoked salmon mousse and chrysanthemum mantou bun) as well as sweet items (which includes the happily moist carrot cake with orange-mint mascarpone mousse and award-winning Earl Grey chocolate mousse with apricot compote and sea salt chocolate crumble). Unlimited servings of à la minute crêpes and ice cream is also available for those who are keen to bulk up and gain mass.

🎶But I set FIRE to the rain~ Watched it pour as I touched your face~ Well, it BURNed while I cried, cuz I heard it screaming out your name~🎶 . If you’re dining at Silk Road, it’s a sin to leave without trying their famous Sichuan Style Wok-fried Chicken with Dried Red Chilli 辣子鸡 ($38++). 🤩🤩🤩 . You’ve been warned – this is not for the fainthearted. The level of spice was akin to 中辣 of Mala Xiang Guo, inherited from the plenty of dried chilli used. 🔥🔥🔥 While this is something that not everyone can handle, I must say that the flavours grew on me and I found myself reaching for more chicken chunks despite the slightly burning sensation that lingered. 🤤 . This is just the magic of spice/mala right? 🤣 It’s almost impossible to enjoy this without breaking into a sweat or go “oooh ahhhh” with that numb tongue that you can hardly feel, but it is just so SHIOK! 😋😋😋 Perhaps we all do like this kind of self-torture sometimes! 👍🏻
Silk Road at Amara Singapore Dump this dumplings 🥟 in my mouth now! These are the standards that I would expect from Amara. Thin skin that wraps the fillings perfectly. Fillings are the mixture of pork, prawns and chives. Dumplings also symbolizes wealth as they resembles golden or silver ingots. Get ready to HUAT at the Lunar New Year ala-carte or set menu at Silk Road until 19 February. Lunch: 11.30am to 3pm Dinner: 6pm to 10.30pm
