Value for money 1-for-1 lobster roll Seafood roll is made of a generous serve of lobster meat and crab meat sandwiched in a butter grilled bread. There are a variety of sauce for different taste buds. We went for maine and chili crab sauce, and found the latter adding more flavour to the dish. Priced at 23+ (SVC for dine in). Maybe one roll is not substantial for a big eater like me, i still felt hungry after a roll :))

Seafood Roll Using Burpple 1 For 1 We ordered seafood roll (half lobster 馃 half crab 馃) 2 flavours 馃捀$23 + $2.30 service charge Maine-style: butter, lemon, mayo, celery salt, oregano, pepper & thyme - you can taste the freshness of the seafood since it鈥檚 not as heavily seasoned Chilli Crab sauce: crab, shrimp, anchovy, galangal, tomato, peanut, sesame & lemongrass - very flavourful, a great match with both seafood but slightly too salty for my tastebuds Waited 20min after ordering even though there were only a few orders before us. Since they changed move over from Chinatown, they only accept cash, paylah and paynow. Free flow of water.

Not Perfect. I don't think I can agree with some of the reviews below. I used the burpple beyond to redeem this and while I agree that the taste was good. I did not get the big chunks of lobster and seafood that was suggested by other reviewers. Without burpple beyond, I fear if may be a little too expensive. I would have liked that the buns got toasted a little longer and that the fillings were marinated better so that the filling would be more moist which can contrast better with a more toasted bun .

Iced Cappuccino The service at Les Patisseries is quite minimal. Despite accepting same-day Chope reservations up to an hour before the reservation, the staff didn鈥檛 bother to check my reservation and just pointed to any table. Most of the tables at large, so you might get a few groups sitting at the same long table when it gets crowded. However, it was quite empty on a Sunday afternoon. The way my iced cappuccino was served in a disposable cup, with a lid and straw despite dining in made me disappointed that this cafe is environmentally apathetic. While their coffee isn鈥檛 bad, they didn鈥檛 have any non-dairy alternatives when I visited. Perhaps these people need to step up their cafe game, especially in terms of service, if they want to survive in the Upper Thomson area.

Matcha Affogato A very thick matcha shot with vanilla ice cream. We found that a fair bit of matcha tended to solidify on the ice cream instead of sliding off and pooling at the bottom as the shot was very viscous, but overall the mixture turned out to be really thick. This would do well as a dessert, but not a beverage on its own. The balance of the bitter matcha and sweet vanilla ice cream is good, and both components complement each other well. I liked the almond flake toppings as well as the bed of crunchy granola, which added a contrasting texture to this creamy and thick dessert.

Houjicha Molten Pancake ($17) Boasting an extensive selection of waffle and pancake flavour combinations, Les Patisseries is a great place to head to for desserts in the Upper Thomson area. It鈥檚 especially nice for chilling out at, because it鈥檚 a lot less crowded than the other cafes around the same neighbourhood. The Houjicha molten pancake is the chef鈥檚 special creation and one of the recommended items on the menu. It鈥檚 an interesting take on molten desserts, and the roasted tea taste comes through quite well. The molten Houjicha doesn鈥檛 flow out that fast, because it鈥檚 very thick, but that wasn鈥檛 a deal breaker for me as I loved the texture of the lava and its contrast with the pancake. The pancake is topped with black sesame ice cream, kurogoma coral and sesame tuile . I love this pairing so much, and the black sesame taste is so good. I feel that the ice cream deserves a mention of its own as the goma flavour was so strong and nutty. In addition, there鈥檚 actually tons of whole sesame seeds inside, which gives lots of nutty flavour and crunchiness in each spoonful. I love it! I loved the Houjicha molten pancake, but there鈥檚 so many options for pancakes and waffles that I鈥檓 excited to return for the other desserts (and another taste of that black sesame ice cream!). Chope bookings are possible, but requires a minimum spend of $10 per diner (not too difficult if everyone orders a drink and you get a dessert to share).

@TheAffogatoLounge serve classics affogato with the addition of alcohol affogato, interesting cocktails tea concoctions and savoury dishes. And yes this is by the same folks behind @TheAffogatoBar at Cluny Court. Kickstart your day with their speciality drink, Bittersweet Symphony ($6/hot), a combination of dark cocoa, vanilla chai and espresso or simply have the Dark Mocha ($5.50/hot) if you鈥檙e not a fan of Chai. The team import ethnically sourced coffee beans from Ozone Coffee Roaster, New Zealand. For those who wish to have a more filling meal other than affogato, they do have a selection of paninis, bowls and baked quiches. Recommended dishes include Italian Couscous Tuna Bowl ($15) and Blue Swimmer Crab Quiche ($13). The latter looks unassuming but taste delicious with generous crab meat filling. For Decadent Cocoa and Caffeine-spiked Desserts Opened by the same guys behind The Affogato Bar at Cluny Court, this new dessert and coffee bar its snazzy younger sibling. The rich and intense Trilogy ($16) sees 70% dark chocolate sorbet, caramel blanc and dark cocoa, served with a double shot of espresso鈥 for cocoa fanatics only. For local flavours, go for the unique Coco Black ($17) that combines a shot of espresso with coconut ice cream, pulut hitam and fragrant kaya bread pudding. Pair your desserts with a cup of hot Dark Mocha ($5.50) that is smooth and deliciously bittersweet. Photo by Burppler Xing Wei Chua

Blue Swimmer Crab Quiche ($13) Don鈥檛 dismiss this unassuming quiche! Made with crab meat, herbs and gruyere cheese, this pastry is a great savoury option to have here 鈥 generous amount of shredded crab with a moist, eggy base housed in a nice, buttery crust. Best served warm!

Supreme S鈥檓oreffles ($35.50) This is one monster dessert consisting of three layers of waffles (including a red velvet and blue velvet waffle), large and mini marshmallows, whipped cream, a choice of chocolate sauce or maple syrup, and four scoops of ice cream of your choice. The waffles are only prepared when ordered, so you can be sure to get warm, soft and chewy waffles with crispy exteriors. I don鈥檛 think there was a difference in flavours in these three waffles, probably just a matter of colouring but this is an instagrammer鈥檚 dream for sure. Not a fan of the whipped cream or marshmallows as they just made this dessert a lot sweeter than it needed to be but it did make it look prettier. Unlike what鈥檚 depicted in the TSL video that keeps looping in the cafe, the marshmallows are not toasted, which was a bit of a disappointment as they weren鈥檛 melty or gooey. For the four scoops of ice cream, we went with: chocolate, coconut, earl grey and black sesame. All of the ice cream flavours were really good, with the exception of coconut which paled in comparison to the others as the coconut flavour didn鈥檛 come through although I could taste some grated coconut inside. The chocolate one wasn鈥檛 too sweet, while the earl grey ice cream was fragrant and very aromatic. My favourite of the four was the black sesame which was fragrant and not too sweet. This is a dessert meant for sharing with friends and family, and be sure to eat it fast because the ice cream melts and causes the waffles to become soggy! I wouldn鈥檛 necessarily order this again but I鈥檓 curious to try their sweet potato waffles because their waffle textures seem to be on point. Also, the ice cream here is good too so I鈥檒l definitely be back!

Salted Egg Wings Since the closure of On The Table at Pasir Panjang, I haven鈥檛 really found a place that served up chicken wings similar to their famed chicken wings (apart from Lola鈥檚 cafe). Stumbled upon The Workbench Bistro and ordered their salted egg wings, which were delightfully battered and fried to crisp perfection. The eight wings are slathered in delicious salted egg sauce. This is an example of salted egg sauce done right as it鈥檚 creamy and the salted egg taste is prominent. Though not exactly the same as On The Table鈥檚, the wings were delightfully crispy and I loved them even more with the salted egg sauce. I know where I鈥檓 coming when I want my chicken wing fix!

Matcha Latte (Hot, $5.90) Don鈥檛 bother with the matcha latte here as it鈥檚 so milky with almost no matcha flavour. The colour is already pale green, and our first sip was just disappointing. Haven鈥檛 tried their coffees, but I鈥檓 not inspired to try the other drinks after having this and the sweet potato latte. Just go straight for their chef鈥檚 recommended menu items instead.
