Movers And Shakers (SGD $8) @ WAN Bar + Kitchen. . This features crisp, crunchy, medium sized pieces of deep-fried chicken skin. . Unique, because most places would choose to go with fish skin instead. I like that it's not oily, and has a tasty salty savoury flavour. . Served with a shaking bag, and a duo of seasoning powders; seaweed powder or mala spice. Pour the chicken skin into the bag, toss in the seasoning powder, and shake vigorously. . The seaweed powder lends a deep earthy sweet flavour, while the mala spice numbs the palate with its sharp fiery spicy notes. Paired with The Casanova (SGD $15) alcoholic bubble tea. . Invited tasting. . . . WAN Bar + Kitchen More details in profile & blog

Cheesy Lobster Carrot Cake (SGD $18) @ WAN Bar + Kitchen. . Our favourite dish. Delicious, hearty, good value for money, and something we would return for. . This house special creation is made to order, with medium diced cubes of soft daikon radish carrot cake, tossed with eggs, chai poh / chye poh / preserved radish bits, and studded with chunky deshelled lobster meat. . Garnished prettily with chrysanthemum flowers, green chili, and spring onions, which lend a splash of colour. . The edges are properly crisp, with a fluffy soft texture, and lovely eggy savoury salty sweet spice flavour. . Even without the lobster meat, this would be delicious on its own. Paired with the Girl Next Door (SGD $15) alcoholic bubble tea. . Invited tasting courtesy of @wan_barkitchen. . . . WAN Bar + Kitchen More details in profile & blog

Kopi O Cocktail An interesting name that caught the attention of everyone at the table. Served in that old school coffee cup, it does bring back fond memories of the past, served along with the jewel gem snack I loved so much when I was a kid. This concoction comprises of coffee infused scotch, Guinness Stout reduction foam, Cardamom Bitters and sweetened with maple syrup. Both a coffee and a cocktail, this might just be the cuppa you need after brunch. 鈦 鈦 Thanks @jekyllandhyde.sg for the hospitality, and @burpple for the invite!鈦

Lady In Red For ladies (and gentleman) who dislike alcohol for its bitter undertones, you can opt for the Lady In Red, which is a fruity concoction that is both light and refreshing. Forming the base is the Raspberry Infused Vodka and Lychee Liqueur, mixed in with Rose Syrup and Lemon Juice which balances out all that sweetness. One thing my partying days have taught me (I鈥檓 old now) is that, sweet drinks are not what it seems. It is easy to forget that there is alcohol in it, since the sweetness of the syrup seemed to have seemingly coverup the taste of alcohol, so go easy on it (of course, a glass or 2 isn鈥檛 going to give you a hangover the next day.)鈦 鈦 It comes with an 鈥榠ce cube鈥 that changes colour and quite frankly, got annoying after a while, so I turned it off. 鈦 鈦 Thanks @jekyllandhyde.sg for the hospitality, and @burpple for the invite!鈦

Made a visit to a quaint little bar called Jekyll & Hyde for the weekend and enjoyed the fantastic ambiance that they have. Definitely a great place to chill in the evenings when you just need to unwind. Plenty of interesting drinks on the menu to explore. We tried out The Go(o)d Father and their Kopi-O Fashioned. Both were really good! The former was nice and sweet, courtesy of infusing Ron Zacapa 23 Rum (Yum!) with Lagavulin 16 Single Malt and Amaretto. How can that not taste good? The Kopi-O Fashioned looked nostalgic and definitely brought out the coffeeholic in me! Coffee infused scotch with Guinness Stout reduction. Not a fan of Guinness but boy did this taste good!! Will definitely be back to try more of their offerings. Address: 49 Tras Street, Singapore 078988 Thanks @munch.app for the invitation and @jekyllandhyde.sg for having us. 馃摑馃摳@foodiejerm

One of my favourite fried korean chicken place in Singapore and w awesome company! 鉁 Combo fried chicken set* (~$24): This is their signature!!! And absolutely love the yangneom flavour. The original was surprisingly tasty as most of the time the inner bits are blend..but this is not! Thumbs up! 鉁 Tteokbokki ($20): chewy and soft rice cakes with korean ramen. Very authentic taste. 鉁 Chestnut Makgeolli: sweeter than the original and I like it! Cheers!! Overall: 鉂も潳鉂も潳鉂

Combo Chicken Set $25 (small) 2am munchies, and the only places that are open are Korean fried chicken joints. Not that that's a bad thing. I remember Kko Kko Nara being the first place i truly enjoyed Korean-style fried chicken years ago, way before the likes of Chicken Up, 4 Fingers and other imitators. We got the combo set which comes with original, sweet, garlic flavours. I can't remember much, but I remember it definitely satisfied. Taste: 3/5

Roasted Whole Pork Knuckle ($31.90++) With everything ranging from writing to reading to exercising to even perhaps the mighty act of waking up becoming a chore as of late, there is no doubt that even the narcissistic demi-god of unparalleled genius in the art of food reviews (@thintbites) requires a kick to bring his dismantled soul together as one again. The aforementioned kick can be labelled simply as food, or rather the prospect of novelty in the food culture of this island. Enter Paulaner Br盲uhaus, a namesake restaurant boasting a spacious interior that was indeed reminiscent of a grand tavern in the heart of the land of automobiles. - Hailing as Singapore鈥檚 only German microbrewery and restaurant, Paulaner Br盲uhaus was a first for me. Indeed, the Bavarian hospitality that was promised came through in their food and atmosphere. The table started with some finger food of sorts through their Paulaner Trio 鈥淟ight鈥 ($13.90++), with lightly pungent sticks of Emmental cheese, a Bavarian cheese spread (鈥淥bazda鈥) and another herbaceous cream cheese spread. - It is worth noting that their mains are substantial, and I mean REALLY filling. As such, our group simply ordered two main dishes which I鈥檓 proud to say sated our hunger rather well. Their Roasted Whole Pork Knuckle ($31.90++) was a chunk of pure carnivorous desire with a crackling exterior and tender pull-apart meat that turned every forkful into pure greasy bliss. We also went for their Original Veal Schnitzel ($29.90++), a thin veal escalope served with saut茅ed baby potatoes and a wonderfully complimentary cranberry dip that proved well for the entire meal. - If you鈥檙e looking for a place with hearty, rich and bold German cuisine in the concrete jungle surrounding the Fountain of Wealth, look no further than Paulaner Br盲uhaus. On a totally different note, this picture further exemplifies the point that Samsung cameras are arguably better at taking pictures of food than Apple.

Tropical Wheat Tropical Wheat (S$8.80 per bottle) to counter that tropical heat. This limited edition beer was recommended by the waitress before the beer would be available on tap from 9 May 2019 onwards, at S$16.80 a pint. The taste profile of the beer was hoppy and citric, with quite a low bitterness and carried some sweetness. It reached a point where I almost thought I was downing a liquified version of a chicken chipolata, or maybe I was just too hungry. But the good news was that given its lightness, I thought it was very easy to drink, with or without food on the table. But I guess the perfect pairing would be with their seasonal white asparagus which would be rolled out any time now.

Roasted Whole Pork Knuckle A main course like this Roasted Whole Pork Knuckle (S$31.90) would be seemingly too large a portion for dinner, but it was worth every cent of it if you were a roasted pork knuckle person like me. The chef would be more than happy to help you debone the roast for easier consumption, but despite having quite a fine balance of crispiness and tenderness, be prepared to send your jaws for an extensive exercise if you would choose this. But the goodness did not stop at the meat. Along with the dish also came a generous portion of Sauerkraut, and that really helped to cleanse away the greasiness a fair bit while at the same time also tasted great (one of the best Sauerkrauts I had taken so far). The 鈥渂all鈥 that accompanied the dish was a Bavarian bread dumpling, which was also delicious because of its buttery richness, but I came to realisation in the middle of the meal that if I were to empty the plate all by myself, I would probably have a digestion problem. So the best way to enjoy this meal without fearing of overeating, would probably be to share it with two or more people, so that the other dining buddies would order something 鈥渓ighter鈥 for everyone to potluck: a food strategy best executed with Burpple Beyond in hand. #BurppleBeyond

Umami Bomb 馃挼: $29++ 馃搱: 8.5/10 馃: Definitely goes down as one of my favourite pizzas I鈥檝e ever eaten. The cornmeal crust is perfectly crispy and chewy at the same time. And all the ingredients really came together to live up to its name of being an umami bomb. However, I gotta say that the middle of the pizza was a tad bit too salty. Service is amazing and the restaurant is really chill, great for hanging out with girlfriends or a date night.

Earl Grey Swirl & Carrot Cake Best after dinner desserts you can find to pair with your pizzas. I came here specially for their desserts and they certainly did not disappoint! Earl grey swirl icecream with a balance fragrance of earl grey & vanilla and a very dense, thick carrot cake. I love the carrot cake density & its so flavorful at every bite omgosh, though its a tad too sweet for me. Overall I enjoyed it very much. Will come back to try their pizzas! Earl grey swirl: $8 Carrot cake: $12

State Fair Fries And JDog Pizza My husband and I finally came down to wolf down on a pizza and fries for a TGIF! It鈥檚 not easy to get a reservation at this pizza joint! The State Fair Fries were good, but could get quite excessive to the palate after a few bites. We ordered the JDog pizza too, but we couldn鈥檛 really enjoy the food as well as we could have, due to the extremely loud atmosphere. Super loud music which really made us feel really uncomfortable. Quickly asked for the bill and get our pizza packed. 馃槬 Definitely not a first-date destination.
