Lobsters & Oysters Brunch $88++ I was so looking forward to all the lobsters' dishes but unfortunately, they all taste meh~ 馃槙 The lobster tails are so-so, the claws are tough and tasteless. Lobster bisque is not bad but it鈥檚 cold.馃槓 The turnip in the lobster popiah is quite bland, you can easily get nicer popiah outside. Ok, so what鈥檚 nice? The prawns are sweet & fresh, taste much better than the lobsters, oysters, mussels were gd. As for the sashimi, salmon/maguro/ika was stated in the menu but only salmon is available, the rest are sushi.馃え My favorites will be the foie gras and egg benedict. The foie gras is pan-fried until crispy on the outside while still soft on the inside and it just melts in your mouth. The egg ben muffin is soft and fluffy when paired with the oozy yolk, it鈥檚 the best combo ever! The Sio Bak is very crispy and tasty! The tarts and cakes are yummy too! When food coma attacks, just go to the poolside and chill and have a pretty power nap. 馃槾馃槀

For 1-for-1 Main Dish (save ~$15) Round up the gang for a Thai feast at this Balmoral Plaza spot. Get the creamy Red Curry (from $10.90) with Beef ($3) to share 鈥 think tender beef, figs and cherry tomatoes sitting in a creamy, savoury curry. Also good is the Beef Kway Teow ($13.90), consisting springy kway teow fried in a mildly sweet sauce alongside vegetables, egg and tender sliced beef. Photo by Burppler Siming T

Mango Sticky Rice I admit I am a sucker for Mango Sticky Rice whenever I come across one. No doubt I had tried this one too at Thai鈥檇 Me Up. The mango is quite sweet, the glutinous rice comes in a very manageable portion size, and the taste was, well, authentic (not too sure if anywhere else serves Mango Sticky Rice with deviated taste profile). However, instead of sprinkling the crispy rice grains on the famous Thai dessert, the one I had came with white sesame seeds, and that changed the satisfaction level a bit. Although the sesame seeds still gives out a nice fragrance as I chewed, there seemed to be a slight mismatch of the sweetness against the fragrance. Factoring in the fact that their Mango Sticky Rice was sold at S$7.90, I might go for something else in the dessert menu if I were to revisit the next time.

Beef Kway Teow The Beef Kway Teow (S$13.90) was known to be Thai鈥檇 Me Up鈥檚 house special. Unlike the usual Kway Teow that has more 鈥渨ok hei鈥 than this one here, what I had was flat rice noodles that were still springy (i.e. not dry from the heat) that was mildly sweet, fried together with veggies, egg and tender sliced beef. The strength of flavours was considered mild, but that did not equate to disappointment. In fact, the portion was seemingly good for one diner, with that little space in the stomach set aside for desserts. And while Thai鈥檇 Me Up offers privileges from the Entertainer app, I thought the overall satisfaction did not justify for the low Saturday lunch crowd.

Le Tradizionali Pizze Stagioni (SGD $26) @ In Piazza. . Prepared with flair and gusto by Chef Dario Bonaccorso. . The crisp crunchy pizza crust, fragrant with herbs, home made tomato sauce, and mozzarella cheese, is evenly spread with 4 different ingredients in 4 quadrants, corresponding to the 4 seasons. . Operations Manager Daniele Tordi told us the crunchy, earthy vegetal salty artichoke is most common in Spring; the juicy, earthy salty cured green olives are associated with Summer; the tender earthy button mushrooms are harvested in Autumn; while the tender savoury cooked ham is eaten in Winter. . Overall, I loved this pizza for its bold and unusual flavours, a distinctive Italian taste that may appeal to those who like strong earthy flavours. . Chef Carlos Tridapalli dressed up in masquerade while we were eating this, great fun. . Invited tasting. Enjoy 15% off your food bill, between Tuesday to Friday, by: 1. Cannoli Siciliani Al Pistacchio (SGD $11) @ In Piazza. . Operations Manager Daniele Tordi prepared and piped this tableside. . This classic Sicilian dessert pastry features a thick, crisp waffle tube, piped with a rich, creamy filling of cream cheese, Marsala wine, orange juice, orange zest, and powdered sugar. It's coated with cocoa powder and crushed pistachio nuts, then served. . Chef Dario Bonaccorso told us the traditional version uses ricotta cheese, which most Singaporeans don't like, hence, the use of cream cheese instead. . I loved the creamy sweet spice flavours of this dessert, and it's light enough on the palate that it doesn't become cloying. . Invited tasting. Spaghetti Alla Carbonara (SGD $25) @ In Piazza. . More than your usual carbonara pasta - this is a true gastronomic experience. . Chef Carlos Tridapalli places the cooked pasta and ingredients into a carved Pecorino Romano Cheese Wheel, then mixes and stirs it around to coat the pasta in cheese, before plating and serving it. . The home made spaghetti pasta noodles here are thicker and wider than usual, giving it a lovely al-dente chew. . While there is no egg used on the finished dish (it's instead used to make the gravy thicker), the thick cream and Pecorino Romano cheese coat every strand of pasta, and along with the garnish of cured pork guanciale / pork cheek and fresh ground black pepper, lend bold salty savoury creamy flavour. . A unique experience, worth trying. . Invited tasting. Enjoy 15% off your food bill, between Tuesday to Friday, by: 1. Following @in_piazza_italian_restaurant 2. Lamb Chops $40 Very stylish place inside a great colonial style hotel. The lamp chops were delicious and the presentation was perfect. The downside was lack of food options and portion size. Also the price was a but too high for my liking. This place is only for special occasions. Not for the faint hearted. Expect around $100 per person

[Gordon Grill] - Japanese-inspired soup which features a tender, juicy Red Prawn sitting atop daikon in an umami seaweed broth with spinach and sous vide organic egg. The red prawn from Japan is butterflied and lightly seasoned before being grilled briefly under the salamander to achieve that soft, plump consistency. While the daikon contributes a subtle sweetness to the dish, as it was simmered in chicken broth till tender. Sous vide at 62潞C for 90 minutes, break into the egg for the golden yolk goodness to mix into the broth for a more creamy mouthfeel. But what impressed us was the seaweed broth which was brewed using chicken bones, leek, onion, ginger, and garlic for hours before adding kombu into it. . Mirabelle Plum Mousse Ge虂noise (part of 4 course dinner at $98++, or 3 course lunch at $78++). Ending the 4 course Surf and Turf dinner on a high note with this light Mirabelle Plum Mousse Ge虂noise. 馃敻 Made with mirabelle plum pure虂e, the jelly is encased within mirabelle plum mousse and set on a base of genoise (an Italian sponge cake). It is then served with Chocolate Ice Cream and Berry Ragout. And the chocolate ice cream is as addictive as the airy light plum mousse cake. 馃敻 Swipe to see the other courses in this menu, and my ig story highlights for what I ate that evening. tagliolini manzo and linguine modesto 鈥 the former is a homemade pasta w beef tenderloin cubes and fresh baby spinach in a creamy truffle sauce. oh wow the beef cubes are legit tender and flavorful, also i love how the sauce is somehow relatively light and not jelat at all!! the al dente noodles also complement perfectly w the meat and the veg. the latter was also soooo good (and i鈥檓 not even a fan of tomato based pastas so that says a lot!!) it鈥檚 linguine loaded w fresh seafood in a garlic, white wine and fresh tomato sauce. the amount of seafood given is rly so generous and worth its price!!!! + it鈥檚 rly super fresh the quality of the seafood is amazing honestly v impressed :鈥) the sauce itself is also rly tasty, to me i nvr like tomato based pasta cuz somehow it tastes v artificial but defo not the case for this!! swipe left for a closeup of the other pasta to look at the insane portion :~)

Australian Lamb Chops ($42) Cosy restaurant located at The Elizabeth Hotel, which offers a great variety of Italian food. My favourite is the Australian Lamb Chops. We finally made our way here! 馃槏 I loved everything in the Matsu omakase ($138++) we had! There鈥檚 the uni and wagyu tartare in a cone 鉂わ笍, refreshing salad with yuzu that is thankfully not over drenched in sauce, goma tofu, roasted wagyu, chamame (like edamame) in a monaka shell, chawanmushi topped with lots of unagi, different wagyu yakiniku grilled to your preference (medium rare of course), fragrant garlic fried rice, the best soup (because it鈥檚 not miso and the beef inside is sweet and tender) and even the dessert. Though I鈥檓 not usually a fan of panna cotta, it goes well with the fruits and looks festive馃巹馃榿 Would love to return for the premium Ume set at $198++, but the affordable lunch only omakase at $68/98++ are very tempting too 馃 The chef and staff are all very nice, and I love the cow figurine used to educate us on the different parts we are eating 馃槅 #thegyubar #wagyu #yakiniku #omakase #burpple #burpplesg

Wagyu Shabu Shabu ($98/pax, min 2 pax). You know I love the wagyu at Gyu Bar, as they serve quality cuts at prices that aren't too expensive. This time, besides their signature yakiniku, they're also serving shabu shabu and sukiyaki. 馃敻 Pictured is Kumamoto Wagyu at $196++ for two pax. If you want more meat, you can opt for additional wagyu at $75, or additional Miyazaki Pork Shoulder at $45. Alternatively, the Miyazaki Pork Shoulder shabu shabu set is $68 per pax, if you don't want wagyu. But you must save for the truffle egg porridge ($38 for two pax) at the end of the meal. They add rice, egg, truffles, and other condiments into the remaining shabu shabu broth for their comforting porridge. 馃敻 Thanks @gyubarsg boss @thetravellingcow for the treat!

Carabinero Prawn ($28 each). Surprise find at Gyu Bar, which made me realise that Gyu Bar isn't all about premium wagyu. They actually have these carabinero priced only at $28 per piece. And these are high grade and prawns that are deep red, as owner @thetravellingcow explained that they wanted to keep the price relatively affordable. 馃敻 And they tasted amazing under the grill... After I'm finished with the premium prawn flesh, I found myself sucking on its shells just to extract the brunt fragrance and whatever was remaining from the prawn juices.. And definitely, don't forget the head.
