Charcoal Grilled Whisky Ribeye ($26++) Pleasantly surprised by how good the food was here! My friend suggested having my birthday dinner at Homeground Grill & Bar and the menu sounded good so why not? One of the star dishes for the night was the charcoal grilled whisky ribeye ($26++ for 200g). Staff and I would recommend going for medium rare because we won’t be friends if you have it at any other doneness. First thing you’ll notice is its aroma, the fragrance from the herbs and the smokiness from the charcoal would cause one to salivate. Secondly, the texture once you bite is extremely tender and juicy. It comes with a salad and a red wine reduction as a complementing sauce but I thought it was fine by itself. For $26++, it’s really value for money but it is also available on Burpple Beyond as 1-for-1 mains. A real steal if I may add.

Whisky NZ Ribeye ($24) Generous portion, medium rare cook to perfection with a gradient pink on the inside. Paired really well with either salt or sauce. Meat has a nice sear outside and soft and juicy on the inside.

Deep Fried Pork Chop Savoury pork chops coated in buttermilk biscuit, paired with home-made coleslaw. Was really looking forward to returning back to Homeground Grill and Bar after my very first visit sometime ago when they had first opened. Not usually my idea to order a fried dish anywhere that I go, but we were already pretty tempted by this item whilst scrolling through social media on the way down here. Coming in a pretty good portion of three slabs of meat, the pork chops were nothing short of outstanding with the crunchy and aromatic buttermilk biscuit batter, while the meat itself was tender and juicy without being greasy — a highlight of the dish considering how easy it is to actually get pork wrong. Pairing the pork chops with a coleslaw, the coleslaw is creamy without being jelak; served cold, the coleslaw gives a refreshing crunch — squeezing the wedge of lemon on the side, the lemon zest provides a slight zing that is intended for the coleslaw to cut through all that meatiness on the plate. Something which I just can't get enough of — a very satisfying fried dish on its own with their very own twist.

Succulent Meat Frankly, changed my perception of alternative cuts. We had the 400 days grain fed decker and denver cuts in medium doneness (complete with truffle fries and creamed kale as sides) and they are totally recommended if you are a steak lover (if you are not, you probably cannot deny the succulence). Doneness was spot on. Quality of fries and kale were fresh and goes along well with the steak imo although it could get a little “heavy” a meal. Price wise, not justifiable to compare to the regular steaks but the portion was pretty generous and definitely worth the price. Finally to end the meal with Basque burnt cheesecake is definitely worth the extra calories gaining for.

Great Steaks, Better Price! Steak was amazing ;incredibly flavourful with great texture. It's a refreshing break to the monotonous rib-eye. FYI, had deckle and denver cuts. Ambience was also classy but not too formal. Would recommend.

Amazing Steaks With Great Ambience I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time, and I'm glad I finally did! The steaks at Fat Belly were amazing. Not sure which I preferred more, the Denver was leaner and had a good bite to it, while the Deckle was so juicy and tender! Loved the sides too, the mushrooms and creamed kale were a lovely complement to the mains. I got the Tiramisu dessert and it was so good that I wanted more! Portions were large and I felt so full after the meal. But it was great, and I would come back soon to have more steaks 😋

Cheeseburger [$10] at a special Tuesday promotional price of $10, this double-pattied(!!!) cheeseburger is amazinggg. the patty was flavourful and well seasoned with hints of smoky charcoal fragrance. leaning towards a medium-rare doneness, the meat was slightly pink in the middle and remained tender throughout, melding perfectly with the cheese. oh and the bunssss 😍 slightly crackly tops, insanely soft and fluffy insides. buttered as well! so glad I finally made the trip down. will be back every Tuesday from now on 🤪 also if you’re planning to go as well, do make a reservation beforehand! it was really crowded when I went and I was so thankful I made a reservation because there was a queue 🙊 4.8/5

Beef Short Rib The third item of my order, the Beef Short Rib. Again, they’ve done such a good job with this! The meat was Super tender, it falls off the bone! It’s covered with a thick layer of pepper, nice for some fiery melt in your mouth beef initially. However, midway through, I had to scrap off some of it as it over-powered the flavour of the beef. I’d say, keep to their beef dishes as they do do fantastically well with them!

Beef Brisket I’m don’t usually have beef brisket, or rather it’s not my first choice for beef due to the texture. However, MeatSmith has done a fabulous job with it! It’s so tender it tears (cuts) as you cut it, and melts in your mouth. Plus, the taste is just right - flavourful and peppery (yet not overtly over-powered by either). 👍👍

Salted Egg Fried Chicken Burger ($22), The Armoury Burger ($23). 1-for-1 with #burpplebeyond! Housed in a refined white colonial building, @armourygastrobar is one good choice to chill your night away with their burgers and craft beers. While the chicken burger had 2 massive juicy pieces of chicken thigh and somewhat resembled the zinger burger, I wish the salted egg sauce was more creamy without that undesirable barnyard taste. Curry leaves, a crucial element of a salted egg sauce, were unfortunately missing. Served with melted cheese, lettuce and tomato. Read mixed reviews of The Armoury Burger but what’s a trip without trying the classic? Sandwiched between the pillowy, buttery buns that we really enjoyed were double wagyu patties, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato. Although it was quite a sodium bomb, I liked that it was packed with flavours, especially the juicy medium-rare patties that also had slightly charred edges. All burgers are served with French fries. An additional top-up of $2 for a change to truffle fries, sweet potato fries, salad or onion rings. One thing for sure, whether it was sweet potato fries or French fries, their fries were ultra crispy. Thanks to #burpplebeyond, we enjoyed 2 burger at the price of 1! The Hangover Burger The burger had a wagyu patty, cheese, maple syrup hashbrown, hot sauce and mushrooms. Though the patty wasn’t the star of the show, the rest of the ingredients still made this burger so delicious. We added $2 to upgrade one of our fries to truffle fries, which was worth it as well. Burpple Beyond made this meal $11 for two burgers only!

Steak Don? Burpple 1 for 1 Can’t rmb exactly what’s the menu name Cos we were so hungry and it was quite crowded! Although you can’t select the doneness it was tasty and my friend had praises for this! Tender meat! Huge portions and friendly staff!! Value for money as we only ended up paying around $22 for a huge don and drink! Will definitely be back.

Generous portion Had the Christmas set meal which came up to $72 for 2 people. Beef portion was generous but quite fatty. The other parts of the meal (i.e. omu rice) wasn't outstanding. For the price point, I was expecting a little more.

Lackluster Food, Would Not Return I don't normally write reviews, but felt the need to "advise" potential patrons due to my experience. Had lunch here when they had their christmas set deals. Ordered two $59.90 meals, the black angus beef set and the omu-rice set. Despite initial appearance, both beef steaks were served cold, like it had been sitting out for some time, which was the main deal breaker for us. The price point on the meals also felt highly suspect, at $60+ per set the only extra things that came with it was the "soup of the day" ( overly salty miso soup ) and a drink (choices between eggnog, beer, soft drink or plain tea bag green tea), salad and rice were advertised but from previous reviews i could tell they already came with the normal meal. Overall the entire experience was quite disappointing, considering the reviews praising the place. This may just be one person's opinion but I would suggest you spend that money on another establishment.

Why Be Skeezy When You Can Be Cheesy Yes, this here lobster mac&cheese costs $35++, but there’s a reason why the premium is worth it. It’s the best motherhuggin’ mac&cheese in Singapore, and I can back that up. First of all, just look at it. Look, look, look! There’s an entire French village’s annual supply of cheese in there! All that cheese is brilliantly broiled till it’s all melted and charred & absolute perfection, and below that blanket of cheese is where the macaroni sits. Lemme tell ya this from experience: that blanket of cheese is the best damn #cheesepull picture you will EVER take, and it’s even more delectable when it’s making savoury, saucy love to your tongue. The macaroni positively DROWNED in a majestically moreish mornay sauce, and I went in on that cast iron pan with a spoon to make sure no drop got left behind. The lobster was admittedly lost in the cheesy chaos, but when you bit into it, you’d know for sure. It was fantastically firm and spectacularly supple, all the expected hallmarks of a fabulously fresh lobster. If you’re tired of getting mac&cheese that’s got less cheese than one of my drunk af bar pickup lines, go to 665F for a thorough vibe check.

Pork Tomahawk Cooked 2 Ways ($85.90) This tastes just as good as it looks!! 😍😍 Highlight of the dish has got to be the thiccc juicy strip of pork with such a succulent layer of fat - really so so good omg. Along with 2 substantial stacks of tonkatsu pork, this dish was actually really filling for 2 pax! (Good for 2-3 pax imo!) Came with 4 different sauces - house made brown sauce, chili sauce and scallion sauce, with tartar sauce too for the tonkatsu pork! Fantastic service with attentive servers who patiently explained components of the dish and restaurant was homely - perfect for families! Sides of vegetable and potato wedges were pretty average, but the meat was definitely the star of the show. Esp with eatigo’s 50%, definitely do give this a try 👍🏻👍🏻

Craft Beers They have very interesting craft beers going for $9. We tried the mango and white peaches beer (rabbits image). The mango beer was sweet and the white peaches beer had a strong sour after taste. Prefers the mango one (tall one at the back). Both were light. Besides their pasta, all their mains falls on the expensive side. Given how secluded it is, I will only come back when someone drives. This is also not the kind of place that you would crave for the food and come back to.

Mentaiko Seafood Pasta Mentaiko pasta were okay, nothing very memorable but well done. The pasta was al dente and ingredients were generous. The Mentaiko sauce was flavourful but not too rich nor creamy. This place is super ulu / secluded. Only viable of you drive.
