The prawns simmered with the tartness of the assam gravy. The components of sweet, salty and sour are combined well together. This dish is very appetising and best eaten with rice. Another special new dish that I would like to mention would be 2 in 1 sambal kang kong and sweet potato leaves that we don’t see it anywhere else! . . Deep-fried chicken drenched in thousand island sauce seemed to be the unanimous choice among us. The meat came out very juicy, tender and flavourful. The Kampong chicken is boiled over long period with white pepper and red dates to add sweetness. Pig stomach is added later. . Overall, you get a robust, tasty chicken soup, with a solid kick of white pepper. The pig stomach is tender with a slight chewiness in it. A very nutritious soup that warm up your palate and tummy. . Wow, we drooled as the claypot was served to our table.. it smells so fragrant and it’s still boiling! Portion is huge for $22, and can be shared between 2-3 pax.. Fish head is very fresh, meat is very smooth and silky. It also come with some brinjal, small diced lady fingers, Long beans and dried beancurd skin! Assam curry is not too spicy and it has that tint of Assam that we adores! We couldn’t stop sipping those Assam curry and soaking the entire plate of white rice in it! Yummy Curry Mee! Super love Island Penang Kitchen. Today I tried their Curry Noodles (changed it to kway teow) and I like it alot! Think of it as Singapore Laksa but more watered down but still as tasty. There was alot of ingredients inside as well - prawns, fish cake, Tau kee, long beans. This dish costs $5 nett. Island Penang Kitchen is a heartland restaurant near West Coast Market that serves up really authentic Penang cuisine.
