Torched To Perfection Such a creative dish yet I still enjoy inari in its simplicity, with the sweet bean curd skin wrapping the seasoned sushi rice. The idea of adding the mentai is sure to satisfy mentaiko lovers though, highly recommended for those who want a mentaiko fix!!!

Worth The Wait We arrived at 11.25am to be the first ones bc we thought the place opened at 11.30am. Turns out it opened at 11.45am but thank goodness we went early because the queues formed so quickly that we were 3rd in a line of 20 over people. Ordered the famous bars chirashi ($12.80) and tamago, salmon and inari mentai (comes in pairs, photos to follow). We paid $20 each, how worth is that? So thankful we skipped the waiting and went straight to filling our famished bellies with fresh and quality Japanese food yet light on the wallet 😛😛 will come again on days that I have time to wait around for a Japanese fix.

Once you Sushiro, you can't turn back! I love the fact that they place out these take away bowls by the cashier in the sushi showcase so just grab and go! No need to queue or wait for food and at $12.80, I'm amazed at the thick cubes of fish I get here! 😱 Anyone else here a Sushiro fan?

Sushiro has a new home at Thomson Plaza! The best thing is, their Bara Chirashi Don is going at $12.80 NETT. No surprise that this highly-raved and wallet-friendly dish is the most popular on the menu! If you’re not a fan of sashimi, give their Glazed Duck Don with Onsen Egg ($14.80) a go. ~ Full review at http://eatbook.sg/cafe-566/ ~ Writer: @tamscratches Photographer: @ngyiyang

25 Degrees Burgers @25degreesinsingapore - Number One (💵S$14) Beef Patty, Caramelised Onions, Crescenza, Prelibato Gorgonzola, Bacon, Arugula & Thousand Island. 🍔 • Truth be told, there are quite a number of mediocre burgers offered in town. Since it is #BurppleBurgerMonth , @ahkemas , @alhsx , @vanessa_kou and I decided to check out this relatively new burger joint from LA. . 🍴 Number one, caramalised onions and gorgonzola blue cheese was an amazing combination with the beef patty. Plus that touch of bacon 🤤. However, together with the thousand island sauce, it can get slightly jelat as you reach the end of the burger and will almost definitely ditch the burger buns, no matter how soft and fluffy they are . 🍴 Number two, burrata sits in the centre like a surprise centre together with a roasted tomato half. The pesto sauce with beef patty, makes this burger a slightly lighter option than number one. . 🍴 Number three, the most fragrant of all 4 burgers due to the jack cheese. Green chili gave an extra kick making you want to eat more as you work through your burger. . 🍴 Number four, yellowfin tuna burger. The burger I chose because I'm adventurous and different like that. Strong smell of fishiness as I put the burger to my mouth. Crispy onion rings, turned soft a bit too fast. And the aftertaste of tofu didn't go well with me. Maybe it would be better w a slab of seared tuna? 🤷🏻‍♀️ . 🍴 We also got a mixed platter of curly fries and onion rings. The self fried onion rings has a very thin batter, so it's best to eat them fast. Curly fries are almost like macdonalds but more expensive 😜. . 🍴 My verdict is stick to the beef burgers and you won't go wrong. I can't place which is the best because they each have their own unique strengths. But at $14 per burger, it's a steal for the big fluffy soft buns and delicious fillings (except for yellowfin tuna 🤣) The burger alone will definitely leave you full! . 🍴 Do participate in #BurppleBurgerMonth as well! Post a photo of a burger and tag 9 friends for a chance to win! . 🍴 #burpple #burpplesg #burgerbuddies #burgers #25burgers #sgfood

Most Value For Money Ultimate Burger Stack ($28) 1KG burger includes a 25-degree beef patty, fried chicken patty, and turkey patty. Plus cheese and thousand island. Pretty worth it. The beef patty is pretty interesting, different from others that I've tasted. This relatively new burger chain is from Los Angeles. Their normal burgers look good too! #BurppleBurgerMonth

Peanut Butter Jelly Toast Much has been said about their items in the brunch menu, but this Peanut Butter Jelly Toast (S$10.00) appears to be a much underrated comfort food in this Muslim-owned enclave. Think about grilled fresh brioche, yummy peanut butter, homemade summer berries compote (otherwise known as fruit jam) and sliced bananas coming together to make a satisfying meal. All these with no meat involved, does that count as vegetarian-friendly? I reckon the meal will be simple bliss with a cup of flat white in place.

Value For Money! When I came, I could not locate where the cafe is at exactly. When I finally found it, I didn't know where was the entrance door lol. I can overlook these both. So my friend and I ordered two sets of Butcher's daughter which cost about $14 for each plate? It consists of beef slices where we can decide on the done-ness. I chose medium rare and it was really good! Not dry but juicy and tasty! The fries was seasoned well and it's crispy outside and soft inside! I loved both the beef and fries actually! Salad was good too with the balsamic vinegar dressing! The scrambled eggs was cooked so well, better than MacDonalds or any other scrambled eggs I've tasted by far! The eggs can decide between scrambled and sunny side up as well. The lychee iced tea ($6) was just right as well. I had quite a wonderful meal overall. The ambience of the cafe was very calm and laid back. A good place for people who would like to study. Even the staff was friendly and helpful, there were 2 who was very courteous to ask about our take on the food and everything. It was nice to have staffs who are concerned about their service and food. The only thing I found it disappointing was the menu, they could consider providing more varietu of food choices.

For Halal-Friendly Weekend Brunches From the same guys behind Penny University, this Muslim-owned cafe in Tampines West Community Club draws the crowds for its comforting fusion cafe fare and affordable prices — perfect for family meals. With exposed ceilings and long wooden benches, its setting is industrial chic without being too in-your-face about it, making for really laidback vibes. If it's your first time here, go for the Butcher's Daughter ($14) on the weekend brunch menu (available on weekends, 9am to 5pm). The generous piece of seared sous vide steak, cooked well and served with fluffy scrambled eggs and crispy fries, makes for a tasty protein-rich plate. Alternatively, try the Moroccan Baked Eggs ($12). Mixed through with beef, the dish is flavourful, with a good kick of spice, and the sourdough on the side is made for mopping up all that delicious gravy. Tummies filled, sit back and sip on a cup of Jaffa Orange Mocha ($6) or the Spiked Muddy Espresso ($6.50) that comes sweetened with gula Melaka. Avg Price: $25 per person Photo by Burppler Dex Neo

For Unique Cafe Grub in Arab Street Located on Arab Street, this unpretentious cafe is unlike others on the list. It's dimly lit, they don't serve flowy eggs Benedict and they don't sugar coat or prettify their mains for the 'gram. But, it's also where you'll find downright satisfying mains, excellent coffee and a whole lot of fun going on (with a dope playlist in the background). Seating is limited, so come with two friends at most. Their menu has since been revamped to include items like the Halloumi & Cauliflower Rice Salad ($16), a vegetarian dish so tasty you might just forget that there isn't any meat. Shaved cauliflower bits are pan-fried, combined with grilled zucchini, capers and a mustard dressing, and then stacked generously on a bed of mixed greens. The heaping pile of veggies is then blanketed with halloumi cheese, sliced eggplants, thyme-roasted tomatoes and a delicious housemade hummus. The owners are from Melbourne and they use Melbourne-sourced beans, so you know your coffee is in good hands. Avg Price: $20 per person Photo by Burppler Veronica Phua

Cappucino ($5.50) This is quickly becoming one of my favourite places for coffee. Strong and boldly-flavoured espresso, paired with perfectly frothed milk. I could really taste the sweetness of the milk alone! The classics were playing loudly on the radio. Pav, the owner, was singing along to the tunes of "Forever Young" . The best part? Some of the customers were joining in too. Sexy coffee? Check. Sexier vibes? Double check.

Flat White ($5.50) Having known that the owners were from Melbourne, I knew I had to get a coffee Australia was known for. Perfect microfoam and flavour, just like the coffee I had in Melbourne (and that's saying alot, because Melbourne is known for their coffee!). Best of all, it doesn't immediately hit you with a caffeine spike, but keeps you going all day. + Totally digging the vibes of this place. Will definitely come back to try their food, but for now, I know for certain it's a great place with great vibes and great people :)

Huge Ass Sandwiches! My friend and I shared the Fried Chicken and Cheesy Beef Steak sandwiches (SGD16 each). The portions are big and I ate the chicken half first and left the beef one for teatime. The fried chicken patty was pretty good but as a whole sandwich it was bit dry. The combination of beef, cheese and onion was quite nice but pretty standard and not saucy enough for me. Service was good though and we managed to use the Burpple discount for a weekday lunch!

One of PBD's latest sandwiches This cheesy Meatballs got most of a classic meatball sub spot on: ciabatta (which tasted more like a chewy roll really) was yeasty, fragrant and soft; melted stringy mozzarella was 👌🏻; homemade Italian tomato sauce was flavourful and well-seasoned. Only thing that was slightly meh was, oddly, the meatballs. Though "spiced" meatballs sounded fabulous, it ended up being less of that pleasant kick at the end, but rather a more complex medley of flavours which, as commendable an effort it may be, sadly detracted from everything else. Meatballs were also a tad overcooked (perhaps too lean too) and lacked that lovely, moist, juicy bite that meatball dreams are made off.

What's going to PIM PAM without trying their paella? The squid ink paella here was superb. It had (almost) a 1:2 ratio of squid to rice grains and the bite-sized squids were so tender that you wouldn't get tired chewing them. The briny squid ink gave the much needed wetness to bring the different elements together. If you are looking for a nice romantic first-date-kind-of-meal, the squid ink might be a turn-off, but trust me, it was worth the black stains on your teeth and lips. Portion might not be that fulfilling for most people but then again, it's tapas, so you need to pace yourself out throughout the meal. Tbh I was already 3/4 full while having this paella. * * Thank you @pimpambyfoc for the hospitality and @burpple for extending the invite! * #burpple #burppletastemaker #whati8today #8dayseat #VSCOcam #vscofood #spanish #food #tapas #eatoutsg #openricesg #brunchsituation #sgfoodies #foodstagram #foodporn #foodgasm #foodart #sgfood #instafood #igfood #SingaporeInsiders #onthetable #exsgcafes #foodphotography #hungrygowhere #eat #tslmakan #sgig #sgcafefood #wheretoeat

Spanish Gazpacho ($10). Have you tried olive oil ice cream before? This was my first too. What you're seeing here is creamy tomato soup poured into cold olive oil ice cream, resulting in refreshing soup that felt more like a summer drink, as it was very light. Perfect for our weather. Also served with onions, garlic, and crunchy croutons. 🔸 This is taken during a tasting.

Yoghurt ($10 with 3 toppings, +$1/additional topping). This was amazing. I've never had Greek yoghurt with a texture anything like this is my life, and I'll go back again one day just to have another bowl of this. 🔸 You can skip all the toppings and honey, and be really happy with the yoghurt on its own. It's sooo airy and light. It's like whip cream, or its like clouds, but that taste is distinctively Greek yoghurt. 🔸 The toppings are good too. You see six toppings here, together with honey syrup in that Japanese bowl to add to the yoghurt. Try different combinations of these toppings with the yoghurt and have fun getting creative. 🔸 This is taken during a tasting at @pimpambyfoc arranged by @Burpple.

Pork Chop & Scallop Paella ($22) Thick, charred scallops, tender pork and puffy, sticky grains made for a delightful paella. 🥘 Really wished for more (it's a really thin layer) but at that price, we weren't complaining. Great vibes and a chill atmosphere – perfect after a day of roaming Orchard.

Unagi Benedict Quirky restaurant with an interesting take on their food ie, oyster congee, Pork ribs crossiant and truffle pork dumplings. What interest me most was the unagi benedict though. Unlike the typical eggs Benedict, this dish is topped with grilled unagi, which is a refreshing change. The accompanying mantous were deep fried to a crispy golden brown and fluffy interior ; it's topped with a Low temperature egg, mushroom duxelles and drenched in yuzu hollandaise sauce. Everything complemented everything and I can say, it was a very satisfying meal. 😋

5- Spice Duck- Smoked Duck Breast, Spiced Duck Leg Confit, Homemade Hoisin Sauce, Apricot Coulis, Steam Buns; XYT Ayam Percik- Chargrilled Spring Chicken with Spiced Coconut Cream and Lime; Crispy Otah Rolls with Tangy Tamarind Peanut Sauce; Braised Baby Spinach with Hand-picked Crabmeat, Goji Berry, Egg Flower Scallop Broth; Charred Eggplant with Sichuan Pepper Spiced Lamb and Pickled Chilli Yoghurt Upscale meal with inspiration from around the world- yet consisting predominantly of Asian flavours (i.e Lamb and Yoghurt combination primarily seen in Indian cuisine; steam bun with smoked duck breast a fusion of western and Chinese cuisine). I throughly enjoyed the meal although guilty of failing to capture all flavours carefully as we hungrily chow down our food. The charred eggplant was a stunning combination that surprisingly worked though it would be a home run if the Yoghurt was more pronounced. The 5-Spiced Duck was a delight to have with the steamed pocket baos as well. On the other side of the table, the baby spinach broth- was a winning classic that was worth trying. Because we decided to head over to apiary for desserts instead, we will be back for the full course with their 2 interesting dessert items on the dinner menu.

Angus Meat Ragu Pasta ($16) 🍝 ⭐️ 4/5 ⭐️ 🍴Simple yummy pasta with generous servings of pulled beef and pork. It was flavourful and I really liked the crispy flakes that came with it. Only wish was that maybe some vege was added to the currently carnivorous dish 😂 ⚠️ They have $12 weekday lunch sets that comes with pasta, soft drink & home-made dessert which is way more worth it than dinner time so I'll be back for that 👐🏼 📍@ahbongsitalian, #01-02, 103 Beach Road, S189704 (near Bugis mrt, exit towards Tan Quee Lan)

Ah Bong's Italian. Poor man's truffle. I could smell the truffle as the server was bringing this to me. This is how strong the smell was. They have a generous portion of Conchiglie pasta, mushroom pesto and cheese on top. I ordered the $12 lunch set that comes with a drink and a measly brownie. yummy yummy yummy. I also blogged about it here https://tinyurl.com/mylhjkr

Lunch is settled with Ah Bong’s Italian affordable weekday lunch sets. A penne saved is a penne earned but they sure didn’t scrimp on flavour for their Poor Man’s Truffle Pasta. Served with a generous serving of mushrooms pesto chicken and enhanced with chilli and wine, it had a great earthy aroma (though still nothing like truffle). My lunch companion’s Haebi Aglio Olio was simple and good too with the surprising choice of dou miao in the mix of dried shrimps and wine. And as expected the pastas were well-executed with a firm al-dente texture. To add to the value, you can’t skip dessert and I really love their brownie with that sprinkle of sea salt to boost the sweet-salty-chocolatey combination.

Buttermilk Pancakes Based on the concept of American diners, the quaint setting and menu (inclusive of cheap coffee with refills!) did indeed remind me of my days in the USA. The flavour of the pancakes was abit too decadent (strangely reminded me of cottage cheese) but that may just be a matter of personal preference for lighter tasting ones. To me, the true mark of a good pancake is if it still tastes good without an exorbitant amount of maple syrup and these passed the test! Texture wise they were thick and so-fluffy-im-gonna-die. I also appreciated the fact that it didn't sit heavy in my tummy after I was done with them. Now, whoever said that you can only eat breakfast food in the morning?

$16.50/2pcs - With Choice Of 2 Sides Nashville Hot Chicken that uses a larger than normal sized bird with that gigantic drumstick! I love that spice rub on the chicken and fried to a golden brown while the meat remained tender and extremely juicy. A downside was that the sides (I had the Mac & Cheese and Biscuits & Gravy) were too heavy tasting which got me struggling to finish especially with the large fried chicken. It would be nice to have a lighter side such as a salad to freshen up this sinful plate! I scored these at a 1 for 1 promotion (which unfortunately is over now) using the Burpple app. Do check out the app for more dining deals and discounts! 😉

Chicken Fried Steak $21 The star of the dish was seriously the mac and cheese. Cheesy, creamy yet not jelat- one of the few mac and cheeses which have found the right balance. Steak was alright, gravy was solid, coleslaw packed a crunch. Sadly the soggy batter on the outside didn't do it for me. Other than that a great dish though!
