Old-school kopitiam that not only can toast your bread but steam too. Unfortunately it's really a very olden habit. It tastes like what our grandparents liked but it won't last into this generation.

Small coffee shop serving only ba chor mee & toast.

We ordered the kaya toast (turns out they also have otah toast) - the steamed bun was fluffy and moist while the toasted version was done up to perfection. Eggs were also just right (not too runny, not too well done).

Ba chor mee portions are a bit small for my liking and the wait is looong (we waited 30 min), but the noodles and fish cakes/balls were bouncy, pork was juicy and even soup was pretty good.

Would come back again! But given that the seating area is a bit small it might be tough to find a seat during peak hours.

The bread was soft and fluffy, the kaya spread was ok but not enough of butter 😅.
The egg overcooked, coz uncle told me to wait till 10 mins 😅.
💰$5.2 ( with one mineral water).
📍Seng Hong Coffeeshop.

The customization for my order includes two soft boiled eggs, steamed bread with otah and a small cup of kopi-o. All these for $4.10.
.
The combination of bread with otah is not something new as I myself have recreated that at home a couple of times before but somehow, it just felt differently having it in a coffee shop setting.

Perhaps, it is the warmth of the soft and fluffy white bread in my hands or maybe, it is the nostalgic memories of yesteryear in the old school coffee shop?
.
Unfortunately, the yolks are no longer runny which suggests that the eggs had been left in the hot water bath for a tad too long.
.
Kopi-o is decent with a rich and roasty aroma and just the right amount of sweetness.

Steamed Kaya Toast + Kopi O Kosong; Coffee black without sugar ($2.60)
- Very fluffy steamed bread
- Good layer of kaya which was subtly sweet and fragrant
- Slice of butter was far too thin and did not provide that creamy mouthfeel
- Coffee was fragrant
Overall: 6 5/10

Additional Notes: While the bread was truly surprisingly fluffy, apart from it, felt that the kaya bread was only average and not worth travelling to the shop for it. Even if you do live in the area, think that there are a lot of other good food stalls nearby at ABC Brickworks Food Centre and Alexandra Food Centre.

In spite of my folk’s grumble on the slightly run-down state of the location, I had a terrific meal at Seng Hong Coffeeshop. We ❤️❤️ their traditional toasted & steamed bread, coffee/milk tea and runny soft-boiled eggs with a dash of dark soya sauce.
Personally, I prefer the toasted bread instead of their steamed version, which was served light, thin and crunchy with a nice spread of kaya & sliced butter. In fact, it’s so toothsome, I ended up re-ordering each item twice.
