What’s said to be an affordable Ngo Hiang meal turned out to be very much scrumptious too. And I enjoyed the quality of the prawn cracker / fritter because it is so crispy, yet everything here went through a round of re-frying without tasting too oily, thanks to a very well-maintained oil temperature in the fryer.
Maybe I am not well-travelled around the island to eat all the good Ngo Hiang, but I was very excited to be served with a bowl of tangy chilli sauce with peanut powder inside, plus that red sweet sauce... both adding new dimensions to the already delicious platter.
Most importantly, how can I not enjoy my Ngo Hiang without ordering a plate of freshly cooked fried bee hoon (S$0.70)?
Cheap and good wu xiang! Crispy prawn cracker with firm wu xiang, sausage and squid dough fritters! Everything for just a friendly $4!
