While I was a little bit turned off at the idea of deep-frying an already unhealthy snack, you will not be able to just stop at one! The Oreo biscuit becomes soft and mushy inside, resulting in a slightly melty chocolatey center. The batter is also crispy and not too thick. At $2.50 for 5 pieces, it was pretty good and one of the more interesting snacks around!
After having come across the viral video on Facebook, I've always wondered what the hype was about. So thankfully a pasar malam near my place had a stall selling this! Opened by Happy Rollies, this was easily the most popular stall. With a wide variety of flavour combinations to choose from, like strawberry + Nutella, or Oreo + milo, you are certain to find a flavour that you like! Surprisingly, this actually was quite good and not just a novelty. The consistency of the ice cream is thicker than usual, and is quite creamy. I like how the flavours are also blended in really well because of all the rolling, cutting and mixing of the ice cream mixture. If you're around the area, I would say it's worth a try! Watch out for the long queues though.
Pasar malams are upping their game and keeping up with the latest trends. While they still serve their usual fried snacks and ramly burgers, they are now offering food you see in cafes like churros! This particular one from Back Alley churros was pretty good. Crispy, yet still soft and fluffy outside. It wasn't too oily, and went really well with their caramel sauce. Then again, what doesn't go well with caramel sauce? However, at $4 a serving this one was pretty ex. There are other stalls selling it for the same price but giving more churros so it was not worth it imo.
