Went to Shabu Sai last weekend and tried their tomato soup with tonkotsu soup🤪 Ordered the normal buffet with add on drinks and bill came out to be $60/2pax!😄
Overall ratings 6/10! Tomato soup was on the sweeter side but its quite diluted. Same goes for tonkotsu... maybe the soup quality deproved from the last time I ate this but would not head back again🤧
Went for the weekday lunch buffet and food was good (as usual!). We had the sukiyaki broth and tonkotsu broth. Sukiyaki was very sweet and flavorful (my fave!) But the tonkotsu is quite lackluster - salty and not much flavor on it's own.
Meat wise, the beef and chicken here is very good! For the pork, I think Sukiya is better haha. But the vegetables selection here is AWESOME. It's the reason why I keep coming back to Shabu Sai hahaha. Especially love their SWEET OAT lettuce. So fresh and crunchy but yet slightly sweet. Also really like their Tsukune option too. In addition, appreciate that they also have a rotational seasonal vegetables selection every month (2 per month iirc).
Overall, great meal and very worth ;)
Shabu Sai’s weekday dinner hotpot buffet is affordable at $22.99++ per person with free-flow pork, chicken and beef. There is also Wagyu Beef Buffet ($36.99++) for those who want a luxurious dining experience. Please read my review at www.hungryghost.sg
90 minutes dinner for average price of $30 per person with drinks free flow.
Sliced beef, chicken and pork is order early.
Buffet is simple as it looks.
Chosen spicy and tonkotsu soup.
Dig and scoop.
Not bad.
$19.9 per pax, with an add on of $1.99 for free flow soft drinks and soft serve ice cream. I've seen a few people complain about the variety and service at Orchard, and was a bit wary going to the one at suntec.
I feel that service could be improved, as staff were not that attentive even when the place is not that full. As for the food, the meat is decent, with an OK spread of vegetables, mushrooms and sauces. Had the spicy soup base with the tonkotsu one, both of them were not bad. I quite like the spicy one as I am usually not a fan of mala soup bases where the peppercorn taste is overwhelming.
Apparently sis says the outlet in Orchard Central offers more ingredients (14-15++) which I think is still worthwhile if the tiny bit of seafood are fresh.
