I like my order of Beef Navel with Tomato Sauce Rice Noodle Soup ($14.90). The noodle was springy & soup was tasty. Only downside : meat too little 😂

Think of Shi Miao Dao as your go-to when you’re in desperate need of a steamy bowl of noodles. Located within VivoCity’s Food Republic, this stall is the first international outpost of China’s biggest restaurant chain specialising in Yunnan’s famous dish — “crossing the bridge rice noodles”. The story goes — daily, a wife would dutifully carry an earthen pot of boiling broth across a bridge to her scholar husband studying for the imperial exam, and would only throw in the ingredients and noodles to cook when he was ready to eat. At Shi Miao Dao, the earthen bowls are pre-heated to keep the broth hot enough to cook the thick vermicelli noodles in just 10 seconds. What really sets this place apart from most noodle houses is the slurp-worthy Tomato Sauce Rice Noodles ($8.50), a flavourful broth built on the original soup base that has been brewed for six hours from chicken and pork bones. It's best to toss in all the ingredients like beancurd skin, black fungus, ham and quail egg while the soup is still hot.

Found this warm soup to be quite comforting! The addition of various topping ingredients also contributed to various levels of crunch and I thought that the texture of the thick white slippery noodles found themselves right up my noodle alley. From 4 soup bases, I chose the original one which goes at an affordable $7.80.

Cross-The-Bridge Rice Noodles aka 过桥米线 originates from Yunnan. Shi Miao Dao Yunnan Rice Noodles has 700+ stores all over China so you might had chance upon them while travelling.

There are 4 kinds of soup to cater to all: Original ($7.80), Pickled Cabbage ($8.50), Mala Soup ($8.50) and my preferred Tomato ($8.50). Each set are inclusive of thick vermicelli directly imported from Yunnan, chicken drumlet, quail egg, beancurd skin, black fungus, white fungus, corn and assorted vegetable. Be sure to order the side dishes like Old Vinegar Peanuts ($2), fragrant as they use their own made old vinegar!

Renowned for their "crossing-the-bridge rice noodles", this Yunnan delicacy is an excellent comfort food to calm the soul. The soup is contained in a pre-heated 250 degrees celsius earthenware pot and you have to add in the thick vermicelli, chicken drumlet, quail egg, pork ham, beancurd skin, black fungus, white fungus, corn and assorted vegetables when served before waiting for approximately 10 seconds for the ingredients to be fully cooked. There are 4 soup bases for you to choose from which include original ($7.80), tomato ($8.50), picked cabbage ($8.50) and mala ($8.50).

Shi Miao Dao Rice Noodles are served in bowls that are pre-heated at 250 degrees and hence able to cook the ingredients that are served separately in Shi Miao (ten seconds!). There are 4 different types of soup base and my favorite was the Original (S$7.8) which is brewed for six hours from chicken and pork bones to give a nourishing and comforting taste! I also like the generous amount of soup and the thick vermicelli specially imported from their original store in Yunnan that is made with no additives. Ingredients in the soup include chicken drumlet, quail egg, pork ham, beancurd skin, black fungus, white fungus, corn and assorted vegetables.

Don't forget to get some starters (pictured on the left above) to share and I would recommend the Old Vinegar Peanuts (S$2) made with their own aged vinegar! 十秒到 is located within Vivocity's Food Republic near the drinks stall.
