Shi Xian (409 AMK Market & Food Centre)

I took the mee siam addict Miss K to Shi Xian at Teck Ghee Court FC recently and she absolutely loved it.

There is always a long queue in front of the stall but it moves pretty fast! We loved their homemade gravy --- it was well balanced, not too sweet or too sour. Add a dash of lime and you will definitely be hankering for more.

Besides the usual sliced eggs and chives, Shi Xian's mee siam comes topped with what we suspect to be deep fried shallots with haebi / sakura ebi / krill? Not sure what it actually is but the savoury umani notes of the topping definitely added much more complexity to this simple dish.

I will say it now --- one of the best in town!

The mee siam is an ensemble of sliced eggs, rice vermicelli, a delicious homemade stock, and a dollop of chilli.
