What a place to retreat to for drinks and good food after a long day at work. Here’s a place with an atmosphere that I love - vibrant and much warmth. A good place to chill with colleagues and even catching up with friends over drinks.
Well Izakayas are all about their alcohol! And their sakes here are such guilty pleasures. I had their standard cold sweet sake - easy to drink and great pairing with their fried dishes and grilled skewers!
Recommended dish to order is most definitely their homemade minced pork cutlet (Buta Minced Katsu). Can’t find it elsewhere, and it tastes so good. If you’re an appetiser person, go for their Ponzu Beef - it’s a cold app that’s light but bursting with flavours at the same time. Opens up the appetite right away!
Had a good time with the ambience at Shukuu, it’s a good place to drink if you like sake. We had the 2 person set which came with a good assortment of dishes and sake.
Shared the 2 pax Experience Platter with my sister. It consisted of a sake of the week and 6 dishes. The experience platter took out the stress of having to choose what to eat, as they have a big menu...
My favourites from the platter was the gyu ponzu, butter & sake oysters and tori karage. The gyu ponzu/seared beef fillet was tender and savoury, while the oysters were succulent and the tori karage was crispy even after it sat out for a while as we chatted. Delicious!
Well grilled skewers! Featuring basic kushiyaki such as chicken meatball, chicken wing, shishito pepper and shiitake - a diverse variety of skewers. Favourite was the chicken thigh!
Crispy baked Parmesan chips served with honey and cherry tomatoes, recommended by the waitress. The chips by itself were kinda salty for me but with the honey and tomatoes, that’s were it really shined. The tomatoes go so well with the cheese chips, I didn’t think that flavour combination would work. The sweetness of the honey and tomatoes lent itself well to the savouriness of the chips. Very interesting dish to try at least once, but I would save my money to order something else on the menu next time.
Simple no frills oden. I really liked it! Especially when it was raining outside and chilly. The soup wasn’t too sweet and didn’t taste like it had MSG (unlike a lot of other odens out there).
