A riff on the classic diced chicken dish, the cod brings its classy brand of softness to the proceedings beneath its delectable crisp of skin, but the deliriously pleasurable cocktail of assertive saltiness and numbing spice, like beauty, only runs skin deep. 3.7/5


I find that it pays to return to places you've neglected because you'll be reminded why you used to love dining there in the first place. It was the case for me with Si Chuan Dou Hua at ParkRoyal Hotel Beach Road.
My impromptu decision to have dinner there led to a really pleasant meal. Nearly everything we had was tasty, and in terms of portion size, even the smallest one which was what I got for each dish, was big enough to feed 3 to 4 pax. These are what I'd recommend:

1) Sliced Pig's Ears in Sichuan Pepper Sauce ($14++) - It was potently spicy with that addictive numbing "ma la" kick.

2) Stirfried Shredded Potatoes and Green Chilli ($16++) - If you don't mind loading up on carbs, this is very appetising as there is a tinge of vinegar used in the cooking of the firm strips of potato.

3) Steamed Beancurd and Egg White with Minced Chicken ($18++) - Their tofu is made in-house and is wonderfully soft and silky.

4) Diced Beef in Black Pepper Sauce ($24++) - A classic that is executed well with very tender cubes of beef.

Service at this restaurant was also above average, which added to the positive experience.


Si Chuan Dou Hua at Parkroyal on Kitchener Road is introducing a 6 course set meal ($68/pax, $78 for 2, minimum 4 to dine) that is available for both lunch and dinner daily from now till 30 Apr 2017.

The sliced suckling pig was my favourite in our 2nd course — Combination of Four Delicacies. The other delicacies are the chilled chicken in spicy bean paste, wasabi mushrooms and jelly fish.

The restaurant prepares a serving size to suit your party and this was for 9 of us! Do visit with a hungry stomach because there's a lot of food in the set menu and you'll definitely want to save space for their dessert buffet.


Featuring the dessert course for the new Set Menu introduced by Si Chuan Dou Hua at Parkroyal on Kitchener Road — priced at $68/pax or $78/2pax (min 4 pax) for both lunch and dinner daily till 30 April 2017.

11 dessert items will be served in buffet style and my favorite was the Crispy Sesame Glutinous Rice Ball with the crispy shell contrasted by the chewy glutinous rice. Of course, you can't miss out on their silky smooth Homemade Beancurd with Wolfberry.


We call this our Happy Dessert as it gives you the ohms & the perks 😇 Super combination of the rice wine & tiny rice balls. I love this but I must clarify, I'm not a alcoholic 😁


Sauce ($4.50)
This is a must-order for us whenever we have dim sum. Our comfort food 😁 Pan-fried till crispy on the outside & still soft in the inside 真棒!

Love how they paired each dish with a drink chinese tea. We start from light to rich with the Pi Tan Piao Xue (碧潭飘雪), follow by Tie Guan Yin (铁观音) and lastly Yunnan Dian Hong (云南滇红).

Enjoyed the delicate Sparkling Imperial High Tea at Tian Fu Tea Room. Feeling like a royal princess. Haha!
