Sik Bao Sin may not have the variety in many tze char stalls, but the quality of their dishes is commendable! Ordered the prawn toufu that was drenched in a sweet umami flavour gravy-So delicious! Pairing this dish with white rice was belly comfortable food. Went there on a weekday, so we were blessed to avoid large crowds and snake queues.

We came at around 7pm on a Sunday evening and waited about 45 mins for food after being seated. This place doesn't take reservations for groups smaller than 10 pax. The food is worth the wait though, and I especially enjoyed the sweet and sour pork and the tofu with prawns. That said, the staff have kind of an arrogant attitude which I didn't really like and it is not the most comfortable place to dine, but at least the food is not bad.

Not a lot on the menu but what they have, they do fabulously well. For me, this place serves the best sweet and sour pork in Singapore and I love their steamed pork.

Why don’t they? One of their signatures here, the Tofu Prawn ($19) came with large juicy shrimp and blocks of beancurd in a gravy that had a slightly sour aftertaste (something fermented probably) which felt out of place with the sweetness of the prawns and savouriness of the sauce.

The popular tofu prawn ($19) had good texture but a strange sour aftertaste that sat a bit off with me. The ginger chicken ($19) and watercress soup ($19) were decent zichar dishes (if not a bit expensive) but the must try, Michelin bib gourmand worthy dish of the meal was probably the steamed fish head ($26) that they topped with lard bits. Great service as well.

Ordered my favourites here and tried the sambal belacan kang kong. Every dish was stellar and my Uncle and Aunt both gave their nods of approval.
