Am a huge fan of Hokkien mee, but it's defo not easy to find good ones. This one here is located in a coffeeshop in Blk 210 Hougang Street 21 (Kovan MRT), which I've always wanted to try since seeing them on food king (yes really long ago).

Hokkien Mee ($5)
I liked how this plate of Hokkien Mee was of a just right wetness - not too wet and not too dry. It was also really flavourful and I liked how their sotong was also pretty well-cooked and fresh. They gave 3 prawns, but sadly ran out of pork lard when I went so didn't get to try. Chilli was really spicy with a good kick - would be great for spice lovers. Overall a pretty good plate of Hokkien Mee I'd head back for, altho it hasn't beaten my fav (swee guan) which comes with strong wok hei.

Although looked no different after the long journey.

Saw a YouTube video of this place and decided to try it.

Not as jelak as I feared. Manage to finish this easily and was still enjoying the last few bite.

Chilli was spicy but bearable.

Hokkien Mee
Dry & large version
Available at @SimonRoadHKM
Crispy lards packed separately
Came with 3 peeled prawns
Note ๐Ÿ“ : dry version was packed in paper while wet version in plastic container

I hadn't been back to this neighbourhood legend for a while, I went for medium size, and I wanted to say it's so good and I missed it blah blah. Until I realised one of the reasons it's so sumptuous was it's wet, but wait, isn't Simon Road Hokkien mee famous for being stir-fried dry? Is that a clue this is not the legit successor? One thing fitted the brand: the free-flow lard. Regardless, the Hokkien mee was really top quality. Everything was on point, including two shiok chilli sauces.
