While many might disagree, I love their unique version as they nail the texture of the chicken as well as the flavorful soy and sesame-based sauce perfectly.

What makes their chicken unique is that it is poached rather than steamed. Poached in a mixture of aromatics, the chicken is removed at just the right time and dunked into an ice bath soon afterwards. The post-treatment in ice does two things—it stops the cooking process, preventing the meat from over cooking and it also shocks and tightens the skin and the meat, allowing the juices to stay intact. The result? Quite possibly one of the best plates of chicken rice around.

There was some news recently about their cook, Benson, leaving, but it has been confirmed that while he may be operating in another stall moving forward, the stall will still take up residence within the same coffee shop. So yay for that!

Chef Ben has a following wherever he goes. I have been eating this since I was a teen, when his Dad used to cut the chicken. Amazingly aromatic. The flavor bomb combo of rice, chicken & Chilli is unbeatable.

This used to be at Margaret Drive, and it was opposite the library where I used to borrow books. (Will this reveal my age??) Truth be told, there are a couple of “Sin Kee” around that I am not too sure which is the original. But perhaps it doesn’t matter that much now.

The flagship item Chicken Rice ($3.50, $4.00, $4.50) is the most popular in the menu line-up.

What makes diners constantly coming back for more is essentially their signature dish Chicken Rice, all chunky slices of chicken meat served with a plate of flavourful yet surprisingly, not as oily rice.

We went for lunch quite late near 1pm and we saw many tables ordered this chicken rice. Reckoned that this is some legit try out, I was very excited about it. The queue remained long and we were quite worried when there was only one chicken left hanging at the store (yikes!). Good thing lady luck was on our side and we managed to get the default plate which costs $3.50. Only white chicken offered, the meat was tender and soft and paired really well with the fragrant rice which was slightly soak with the "special" sauce. While it was a good plate of chicken rice, it didn't leave a very deep impression on me. I don't mind having it when I'm near the area but won't make a trip down just for this.

The rice was very salty, I couldn’t finish. Chicken meat is good though.
