Every component of this dish must be spot on to be considered one of the best chicken rices in Singapore. From the tender poached chicken to the aromatic fluffy rice and piquant chilli sauce, Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice at Mei Ling Market & Food Centre ticks off most of the checkboxes. The popularity of this chicken stall even extends to 2 side-by-side units in this hawker centre.

Ckn was fine, quite tender and not seasoned. But their Base sauce, which is just sesame oil and home Blend of soy sauce, was incredibly good and appropriately savoury.

Liver was nice as well, no foul smell and quite well cooked. Chili sauce had a lot of raw heat and was sharp.

Not too bad at all overall. Worth a try if you're alr here

Steamed Chicken Rice, $4. Slurp๐Ÿ˜‹!! This surely ease our chicken rice craving which we had for days! The rice is so fragrant and we love itโ€™s texture! Chicken is tender and they are generous with the portion! Simple and delicious! .

Smooth, tender and very juicy. The breast is so tender, and it absorb the soy sauce/ sesame oil well. The skin glisten gloriously, without that fats layer between the meat and skin, that some places have. This famed chicken simply ticked all the right boxes. Grandma tried it, and if it is good enough for her to have seconds (we are Hainanese). Then it is good enough for us. The only downside? Probably the lack of chopping skills, according to my Father.

Warning!!! This is NOT the original Sin Kee Chicken Rice, but a subsidiary opened by the workers. The rice was not bad, being grainy and with medium amounts of flavour. Chicken was reasonably tender. Overall, a decent plate of chicken rice but nothing to shout about. The $3 portion would suffice; the extra meat was not proportional to the extra $1 that you would pay for the $4 portion.

Hearty (portion): 3/5
Tasty (product): 3/5
Worthy (price): 4/5

I used to have Sin Kee chicken rice at Margaret Drive Food Centre after training at Queenstown swimming pool. The food centre has been demolished and the stallowner's son has taken off the baton with their stalls at Alexandra Village and Mei Ling Food Centres.

I like that their poached chicken is soft, tender and juicy though I personally prefer a more fragrant, oily and flavourful rice. The chilli and ginger dips are superb.

I personally prefer the poached chicken in Bishan for its gelatinous skin and texture of the chicken but Sin Kee does come close to it!
