My family is back at Whampoa Food Centre for dinner and we ordered a generous plate of Hokkien Mee ($10) from Singapore Fried Hokkien Mee to share. The yellow noodles and thick bee hoon go well with the garlicky and flavourful sauce. The chilli is not super spicy but it adds just the right amount of heat to the noodles. Together with the prawns, squid, pork belly, egg and lard, this is one decent plate of Hokkien Mee that I wouldn’t mind having again.

Had the $6 portion.

Very long queue during dinner time.

Very friendly auntie collecting orders.

Not a bad plate of hokkien mee, chilli was somewhat sweet.

Theres no need use chopsticks to eat, spoon can scoop everything up to eat.

I love hokkien mee a lot, but I do not allow myself to eat it often cause it is really unhealthy. I am glad that the taste of this hokkien mee lived up to the hype. My only gripe is that i paid $5 and only got three tiny prawns... But overall, a very delicious meal!

Something unusual about this stall is that their order counter is at the side, not the front of the stall.

Queue formed easily but waiting time is short. It is completely a wet version with just a few prawns plus sotong from $4 onwards.

Fried hokkien mee simmered to a thick gooey consistency, this is a longstanding popular stall with a constant queue at the Whampoa food centre. Not bad but doesn't come with pork belly. Ingredients are not abundant - 2 small prawns and a couple of sotong pieces. (Pictured here is the $4 portion.) Not in my top 3 favourite stalls for hokkien mee but okay if craving for a quick fix.

Nyonya chendol have 6 outlets in islandwide. And I tried Whampoa outlet, and it’s really good.
Chendol come with big chunks of durian purée, the gula Melaka amount is just nice, not too sweet and balance well with the rich coconut milk.
💰$3.
