I’m a sucker for Asethetics - got entranced by the marble-like texture of the cake💕 this pandan kaya cake ($7.90) is an innovative take on the traditional pandan cake - kaya custard layered between blue pea flower glutinuous rice layer✨ but there could be a stronger distinction in flavor compared to your usual pandan cake or kaya butter to justify the cost (more than just the looks of it)

2 layers of gula melaka fudge sandwiched between 3 layers of cake covered by a gula melaka glaze. The cake tasted like a kueh to me.

What it taste like: Tasteless kaya curd sandwiched between tasteless wet sponge cake covered by sweet gula melaka sauce. The sweetness comes from the gula melaka glaze only so don’t be afraid that the cake will be too sweet.

The texture of the cake is very one dimensional - which is a soft kueh-ish wet cake texture - and definitely makes for some monotonous eating.

Underwhelming. Not for me.

Returned to sinpopo to try out their cakes. The ondeh ondeh cake ($8) was too sweet. However sponge was soft and moist and cream was fresh.

This certainly came across as a premium interpretation, but on a scale of basic enjoyment, it didn't score high.

Don't expect bursting ondeh in your mouth and this looks nothing like ondeh, but the ingredients of gula melaka, caramel and coconut cream do deliver a taste hauntingly similar to actual ondeh.
