This bowl of dry Bak Chor Mee Pok, from the same coffeeshop as Loo's Hainanese Curry Rice, comes topped with fresh prawns, pork slices, minced pork, pork ball, Teochew dumplings and braised mushroom. The ingredients are all very fresh and well marinated. I especially like the Teochew dumplings which are so full of sole fish flavour.

I don't fancy al dante mee pok but it should not be soggy too. The mee pok here is done just right with the right balance of lard, black vinegar and chilli.

I have not tried every Bak Chor Mee stall in Singapore but I dare to say this is one of the best out there. You need to have the patience though for every bowl of the BCM is slowly cooked and put together so the waiting time can be long especially during peak hours.

Good BCM with generous serving of ingredients. Soup was flavourful. As it is run solely by an old uncle, be prepared for the queue to move very slowly. (~30min)

This is the ba chor mee (without a name) opposite Tiong Bahru hawker centre. It’s in the same coffee shop as Loo’s Hainanese Curry Rice (71 Seng Poh Road), which has an equally long queue, so make sure you’re in the right queue.

What I love about this BCM is how much ingredients you get - it’s nuts!! This was their $6 bowl, but it comes with 3 (deshelled!) prawns, lots of meat slices and chunks, mushrooms, a meatball, and 3 wantons! I like their wantons in particular because they’re extremely tasty, and almost a bit sweet. The soup is also great and the taste kind of resembles the wantons. The noodles here aren’t the best for me- they’re okay, but I still like this BCM overall because there’s just so much stuff to eat.

It was a >20 mins wait and was slightly disappointing (maybe cause we had high expectations). While the ingredients were tasty, overall, the dish was a tad too oily. The soup was nice but very sweet (was there sugar?). We’d say to just stick to eating the curry rice 😅

It was a one-man show for the uncle as he managed everything from taking order, cashier-ing to whipping up this bowl of noodle amidst the snaking queue outside his stall. What I love the most were the teochew-style dumplings and meatballs while I found the noodle to be a tad too soft for my liking. I was also surprised to see a shrimp on my noodle (not too sure if it's a teochew style kinda thing). Do note that the noodle portion might be rather small (especially for guys) so get a medium-sized bowl since you'll get hungrier after queueing. Definitely will be back here if I'm not in a rush for work 😛
