Tried So Ramen’s Flaming Lobster Seafood Poached Rice and it was better than we expected - base was a seafood tonkotsu broth, topped with a couple types of seafood, crisped puff rice, and half a lobster with mentaiko and cheese that’s torched. Appreciated how the soup was kept hot throughout in the stone pot. Available till end of March, with limited bowls daily.

I’ve always felt that Sō Ramen offers one of the better ramen around, with its standard remaining consistent over the years. And now, they’ve recently launched new sides dishes for you to pair with your ramen:

~Ika Geso (Squid) Karaage ($6.50)
~Goma Tofu ($3.50)
~Tori Nanban ($5.90)
~Crispy Whitebait Fry ($6.90)

The sides are pretty enjoyable overall! The Ika Geso Karaage was crispy and tender, the Goma Tofu was creamy and pungent (in a good way!), the Tori Nanban was crispy and juicy, and paired well with the tartare sauce, and finally the Crispy Whitebait Fry was well-seasoned but could have been a little more crisp!

@soramensg is Breadtalk’s finger in the pie that is the affordable budget ramen restaurant. And when I say budget ramen restaurant, I mean it. This bowl of Cha Shu Uobushi Tonkotsu ramen was $8.90++. A serving of springy ramen noodles, two beautifully charred slices of char siew, and a bounty of brilliant broth.⠀

The pork was felicitously fatty & meaty, with the fats nicely balancing out the meat. It’s a touch underseasoned, but the caramelisation on it is topnotch. I visited So Ramen the day after my gym session, which meant that it was bulking day, and of course I was gonna get an order of Toroniku (torched pork cheeks) for an additional $4++. It was sinfully scintillating, with a fantastic fat marbling amongst the tender meat. A truly worthy companion to any ramen.⠀

The ramen, or more accurately, the Hosomen, was thin, springy & charmingly chewy. So Ramen has three different kinds of noodles paired with their different broths, and who am I to complain when the pairing in my bowl was perfect? Most of you would know what a tonkotsu broth is, but what is uobushi tonkotsu?⠀

Well, it’s simply the standard tonkotsu pork bone broth reinforced by bonito (a species of fish) broth. The rich, slightly creamy & fatty pork bone broth gets a deeper, saltier flavour on top of its mildly sweet & savoury characteristics, resulting in a hearty soup that I very much enjoyed.⠀

For the starting price of just $8.90++, So Ramen has got sapid bowls of ramen that can easily hold their own against the more acclaimed ramen joints. That’s so ramen, man!

Sō Ramen has launched three takeaway bento set. The three bentos include Oyakodon Bento, Pork Katsudon Bento and Pork Yakiniku Bento.

Stone-pot rice bowl with pan-fried and barbecued pork, spring onions, seaweed, raw egg and a drizzle of addictive secret sauce. Served very hot and tasty! Recommend at this ramen place!

this ramen place has a wide variety of choices which i really enjoyed , it has five main soup bases which is the Tonkotsu 🐷, Uobushi Tonkotsu 🐟🐷, Miso , Spicy Tonkotsu 🌶, Shoyu along with many sides as well . reasonable and considered affordable with prices starting from $8.90 !!

for most bases you can choose different toppings such as Toroniku ( pork cheek ) , Tamago 🥚( egg ) , Chashu and some like Grand 🐷🐷🐷( 3 types of pork , pork belly , pork cheek , chashu ) , Pork Yakiniku ( stir fry pork slices ) , Yasai Cha shu 🥬( vegetables ) . different toppings will have different prices but i like how we have options for what toppings we want :)

i got the Spicy Toroniku Tonkotsu🌶 and i would say a pretty good bowl of ramen , i would prefer it to be spicier ?? but of course there were condiments and also , do take note that different soup bases has different type of noodles as well ! not the BEST but definitely would recommend to get your ramen fix here for the value and quality !

the time i went was for the 1for1 promotion so there was a long queue and the restaurant was packed and busy . despite this , the staff still served us with speed and friendlyness :D

overall a good experience 4/5 :) do catch their 1for1 deals for the next 3 weeks at selected outlets ><
