Yet another fusion food where the East meets the West, this 13 inch pizza comprises of spicy dried shrimp topped with sliced egg tofu on a thin crusted base. Love how the spicy dried shrimps added not only a tinge of spice but also a pleasant umami fragrance to the pizza, the main highlight here which overshadowed the characteristic tangy tomato paste (thank goodness πŸ™πŸ»!). Along with a top layer of thick, gooey melted cheese, each slice is topped with egg tofu that was soft, silky and wobbly, also a lighter element that serve as a counterbalance to the other heavier ones, typically the spicy dried shrimp paste. The pizza crust was also thin and crisp on the edges, though the interior could have been more solid and les fragile. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed this pizza for its unique flavour and the fragrant tinge of spice that makes it nice! πŸ˜‹ .

Mac & Cheese in a DIM SUM basket?!! 😱 Kudos to this unique and creative presentation πŸ‘πŸ‘! Aesthetics aside, this dish worked wonders to my palate as well, with a thick layer of crusty, gooey melted mozzarella & cheese as a blanket over a bed of macaroni baked in creamy bechamel sauce, along with bacon bits and chicken strips embedded within. Love how the bechamel sauce was creamy, rich and flavourful, sinful yet comfort food for the soul, without a piquant and overwhelming cheesy flavour that I was afraid of. Garnished with croutons for an added crunch, I also added on a poached egg atop - which had eagerly revealed it’s vibrant golden hues when served. Nevertheless, the yolk was still a runny, liquefied one that added both visuals and palatabillity to the overall dish. Pretty generous in portion, with the bacon bits contributing to a savoury smoky flavour, along with tender chicken strips. For those with a heavier palate, it might be a manageable dish for one as a meal. Otherwise, you can consider grabbing a kaki along with u to share the calories (and joy) and perhaps an excuse to check out the other dishes here as well! Personally I really enjoyed this dish (being a fan of cheese as well) and felt that this cafe is really underrated! It’s a pity they would be ceasing operations on 25th July! Till then... do drop by to check out this place before they are goneπŸ‘‹πŸ»πŸ˜’ .

This is so ridiculously good yet wallet-friendly it definitely deserves a mention; trying to refrain from using the word "cheap" in order not to make it seem like a budget meal even though it's only $9.90. Originally featuring linguine, but they used spaghetti for mine for they had ran out of linguine. Laced in a mildly garlicky, sweet-savoury sauce that's rather Asian in flavour, it comes with hand-pulled pulled pork; beautifully braised and tender yet without carrying a porky stench and loads of caramalised onions for some sweetness as well as some mushrooms for a little bit of earthiness and some bite. The inclusion of chili padi (which you could specify your preferred spiciness) ups the shiokness for it as it adds that mild spiciness with that raw-ish chili flavour; so so amazing!

I've lost count of how many tenants there were in that shop space over the past 9 years... I usually deem it quite unlucky because most of them seldom last a year due to lack of traffic in that stretch. Socks & Pans is pretty brave to overtake it, having been in Market Street before where there was probably a bigger corporate lunch crowd heading to Golden Shoe.
This prawn aglio olio had really crunchy fresh prawns, and as you can see it's generously littered with bacon bits. With the added-on sous vide egg and a drink, the meal cost about $16 - quite reasonably priced for a decent and satisfying pasta dinner. I would love to try their pizzas someday.
Just hope for their sake that they have better luck than their predecessors...

On a more serious note, Socks & Pans have moved from Market Street to Tanjong Pagar.
I told them "The last shop at this unit didn't survive long." So giving them so help by supporting them. Went there a few times already to get coffee and pasta. If u are near Tanjong Pagar and need a pasta, can give them a try.
