Little Thai food gem, for S$46 two of us enjoyed belly-fulls of food.

Especially loved their signature yellow seafood curry, made from scratch, and the mango sticky rice with liberal amounts of sweet and savory coconut milk on top. The Thai milk tea is perfect too, not too sweet.

Worth coming to if you’re in the area, or a short trek from neighboring areas.

We dine in for the first time at Soi thai (jurong west). It was a relief that we were there early, as the formation of a long queue could be seen at around 7pm.

Ordered the thai style kangkong, red seafood tom yum soup, pandan chicken and pineapple rice. Our favourites got to be the kangkong and tom yum soup. The smokiness from the wok hei in the stir fried kang kong was impeccable. The tom yum soup was thick due to the addition of the coconut milk and rich in taste which comprises of the lemongrass and spiciness from the chilli.

A pineapple fried rice that leaves deep impression not because of how delicious it is, but how much it doesn't even taste like one. It felt like I was eating curry fried rice instead, with the overpowering curry and turmeric powders, not even a slight taste of pineapple even though tiny pieces were spotted. There were also a handful of cashew nuts and a scoop of bland chicken floss. Pretty presentation, but looks can be deceiving.

we ordered five dishes but only four came. tom yum soup and basil chicken were too salty. my mango sticky rice took a long time to come and the sticky rice tasted stale. 😕 (but the omelette was amazing 🙌🏽)

Another meat that I ordered from the appetizers is their ‘child-friendly’ Pandan Chicken ($8 /4 pieces). Unskillfully unwrapping the leaves, I enjoyed the slight fragrance of pandan. And the texture of the chicken was very crisp on the outside yet was able to lock the moisture in. Service was prompt. However, seats are limited due to the space constraint and the queuing time a definite deterrent so try to beat the crowd.

Just a 5-10 minutes walk from my block, Soi Thai Kitchen’s newest outlet at 502 Jurong West is certainly a welcomed addition to the neighbourhood by offering wallet-friendly Thai cuisine - which is not easy to find in the area.

Packed till late almost daily, there are even patrons waiting before the shutters are pulled up for dinner service. But as for the food, there are some hits and misses.

Of course my choices are limited due to my low spice tolerance, but for me the meats that I tried generally fared pretty well. The Premium Fried Pork Cheek ($12) was fried to perfection - succulent on the inside with lightly crisp and crunchy edges (note that the signature item is available in limited portions).
