Do visit Song Fa at lunchtime to enjoy their set lunches, which cost around $12 and come with youtiao, peanuts and a drink in addition to the bak kut teh soup! While the peanuts were ordinary, the youtiao was really well done and was served to us steaming hot and really crispy. The drink was subpar though - it was supposed to be a honey drink but it was pretty tasteless.

Song Fa serves the peppery type of bak kut teh, and the soup is free flow so you should drink it to your heart's content! We got the sliced fish as it is pretty tender and does not really get stuck in between your teeth (unlike the pork ribs). However, we encourage you to get Song Fa's signature pork ribs in soup if you have yet to try it before.

We visited at lunchtime on a weekday and had to queue around 20 minutes to enter. You may wish to note that the staff may allocate you to an outdoor seat if there are no indoor seats available.

My go-to place for bak kut teh whenever I'm craving for some hot peppery soup! I'm quite sure this place needs no introduction. Despite it being touristy (not that there are any tourists now lol), it still serves good quality bkt :) yumz

Total was approximately $30+ for 2 pax. Not fantastic or wow. But good hot soup on a rainy day.

Just what I need this rainy weather. Tried it before?

Song Fa is on GrabFood now btw.

Why do people stand in line for, sometimes 30’, to eat here, when Legendary Bak Kut Teh just a block away, is empty? The ribs and pork intestines are indeed very good, but the main reason is some clever deal with travel agents, that send tourists here by the bus loads.

When you come in group and have someone who can brew traditional tea properly. Then we suggest go for a pot. This tea pot is shared among 4 persons with refillable hot water. The Kong’s garden tea has deep aroma and fits well with all savoury dishes we have. We also enjoy our experience of traditional tea brewing (DIY).😍
P.S. the wet towel here is free (but if you don’t use, that’s fine #zerowaste 😉)
