Thankfully, Mr and Mrs Mohgan were sold out that morning during the nth time I visited, so that drove us to this fishball noodles place nearby. And it was so good.
🔸
It's all about the her keow (fish dumplings) kiapped by the chopsticks pictured here. I went with no expectations, but my eyes lit up as I was surprised by how flavourful those fillings within were. It's pork fillings definitely, but that marinate for the fillings sets this apart from other her keow, although they are all wrapped in a thin and smooth fish skin. The fishballs and other ingredients here are quite good too, being soft and bouncy.

I've heard they were better when they were at Serangoon, which I've never visited even though it was nearer then, cos of the long queues. But @mininomster said it could be because of the old school and dirty feel of that coffeeshop, while the new outlet felt too clean.

Very straightforward menu - dry or soup noodles. Opted for dry mee tai bak, Al dente but wished it had more flavour. The fishballs were good but definitely the star of the show is the fish dumplings. Very flavourful and good meat to skin ratio. Yums!

had the soup mee tai bak and the dry mee kia. Generous amount of ingredients with three fishballs, one dumpling and one taupok for just $4. Dumpling was nice! Friendly staff is a bonus!

I got the meekia not spicy with no taupok. I think it’s great but mainly cos they are really generous with their sauce.

I would go for their chilli next time. It really is tastier! Maybe less spicy. Fish dumpling is good. Fishballs can be a lot better.

Good size bowls of mee pok, mee kia n 老鼠粉 served with chewy fishballs, extra large meatball n bigger then usual yummilious fish dumplings.
$6 or $8 per bowl

Most of the fish dumplings (her giao) I had are either tad too dry or small to my liking which contributed to my disappointment. I guess my disappointment had officially ceased ever since I had Song Kee fishball Noodles’ her giao😬 The her giao from them are plump with savoury filling and most importantly the texture is super slimy which attributes to the uniqueness of the dumpling😋
