Soon Huat (ABC Brickworks)

Finally tried Satay Bee Hoon ($5 for larger portion) from Soon Huat and I can see why people love this! The sauce rich but not cloying, and has a good savoury sweet peanut flavour. We actually prefer the satay sauce with yellow noodles instead, as the richer taste of the yellow noodles complemented so well with the thick sauce! It's similar to mee rebus! There were quite a few ingredients too, especially some cuttlefish and fresh cockles.

Looks like a legend, tastes like a legend. Most satay beehoons are quite good because it's such a tedious and dying dish that only the artisans make it. But this has to be one of the best. Every component was so simple yet well executed. The whole was more than the sum of its parts. The pork and cuttlefish were incredible, while the sauce is so popular they sell it in individual packs.
