Shocking price. Pork chop, tofu, leek.

Originally founded by Peh Lee Soon in 1997 but now operated by a different team since August 2018, they offer traditional Chinese Teochew dishes, with a range of 15 - 20 dishes freshly prepared daily.
.
Their plain rice porridge has a medium thin texture, with mild grainy sweet flavour.
.
The crisp Stir-Fried Water Spinach With Anchovies has bright vegetal savoury sweet bitter earthy salty flavour, while their signature Soy Braised Ginger Garlic Pork has a tender texture with robust salty savoury spice herbal flavour.
.
The soft wispy Braised Tofu Beancurd With Pork Floss has grainy salty sweet savoury notes, while the tender flaky Steamed Spanish Mackerel Fish With Ginger carries enticing sweet salty savoury spice flavour.

Kovan is popular for a few places of getting Teochew porridge and Soon Soon is consider a much hidden from the rest, as it located along Simon Road shophouses.

The original owner already sold their business much earlier and the new owner continues selling it.

I would say it is a much quieter compared to the rest but the price could be also very expensive to me.

The area around kovan used to have 3 very good teochew porridge. Sadly now only left 2.

Soon soon is definitely still around. I dare say, soon soon is the better teochew porridge of the remaining 2 in this area.

Chilli lala was good, spicy and sweet and eggy.

Minced pork was the best dish here. Flavourful and not so spicy.

The braised pork and duck was soft and tender.

And u can't go wrong with the hae bi hiam(dried shrimp), a must have here.

Overall 4.5/5 for me.

Can be quite Pricey here, so take note.

This Teochew establishment recently extended into late hours by starting lok lok. They even call themselves Midnight Diner lol. I love lok lok lah, but this isn't very Malaysian. The upside is they battered some of the items; the downside is they lost some flavour. For example, broccoli is usually fried directly, charring it with oil. Here the batter kept the flower quite raw. The Taiwan sausage was unusually dry. You can choose the seasoning for your sticks. They have sauces as well, but weak compared to other joints.

The highlight is the braised pork skin with peanut.
The skin is tender with the perfect chewy texture for me and HBH (heibihiam) that slighty spicy and tangy to pair with my porridge.
