Had gumbo before but didn't know this was how it's supposed to taste! Despite the clear soup it's not watery at all, and choke full of flavour. There's a little sweetness from the veggies, and the soup is slightly thick from the lady fingers. Chicken was super tender and the rice was sublime just soaking in the soup

Eggs casserole turned up to be just plain baked eggs with broccoli so that wasn't spectacular but it went well with the strong flavoured pulled pork with a rather savoury sauce. Reasonably tender but would be perfect with a little more smokiness

Bread pudding was good too but I didn't take pic lol a little too wet but flavour was spot on. We had cranberry and chocolate that day but they change the toppings of their bread pudding regularly

Just $3.50 for this slice of goodness!! Cake was moist and fluffy, and the blackberry wasn't too overpowering and complemented the flavour well. Totally worth it for that price.
They change their desserts every day and give updates via their Facebook page-- For this day they had this chocolate cake and a chocolate cranberry macademia bread pudding (which they ran out of :( )

Super shiok and homely! This place changes their menu every day, so you can check their Facebook the day before for that day's menu. They have lunches on weekdays and brunch on Saturdays!
Ordered the two lunch options for Friday-- Cranberry balsamic roasted chicken thighs + Pasta with minced pork ragu, both at $9.80. Topped up $1 for their cranberry iced tea which was just sweet enough and refreshing. Chicken was tender and juicy, while the carrots were perfectly roasted. The pasta was really flavourful and cooked just right.
Overall atmosphere of the place was lovely as well, really spacious and well lit (although it was raining!). Service was also fast and friendly. Great great affordable and enjoyable dining experience-- will definitely go back another time :)

From a new eatery within the One Pemimpin commercial building named Soul Kitchen Singapore which brings the flavour of Southern American soul food to local ground with an American helming the kitchen. Stone-ground corn porridge served with scrambled or fried eggs with a biscuit on the side, a slab of butter is provided to slather on the biscuit while the recommended hot-sauce in the menu comes along on the side. A decent and honest breakfast dish for $6.90 (the highest price you can pay for a brunch dish here btw), the porridge had small lumps of rice which were soft, unlike the usual mushed-up local versions while carrying small bits of corn that inserts its natural sweetness here and there. The hot sauce seems to be a hybrid of Tabasco and our beloved chicken rice chili sauce; tangy and boldly spicy, which goes well with both the fried eggs; crisp on the edges and with runny yolk, as well as the porridge. Biscuit was decent with a little salted flavour, enhanced with butter but I personally would have preferred it to be toasted a little more for a crustier exterior. Still, quite a decent meal that satisfies if you manage your expectations well, and if you are willing to walk the distance from the nearest train station (i.e. Marymount MRT Station). Service was pretty sincere here too!

PS: Do try the Meat Loaf here if you ever visit them; the table across ordered one and it looked so good and the portions seemed pretty generous for the price. Lunch items also come with a little snack as a starter. #regrets

From a new eatery within the One Pemimpin commercial building named Soul Kitchen Singapore which brings a taste of Southern American soul food with mostly all-day breakfast options and a small selection of lunch time specials such as the meat loaf. Hot coffee comes complimentary with any of the all day breakfast dishes offered, but you can opt for this at a $0.50 upgrade ($3.00 ala-carte). Using Arabica beans, this was actually pretty light-flavoured but punchy with floral notes with a clean finish.
