Doughnuts that live up to the hype!

This is a box of 6, where my aunt picked 5 Cinnabombe and 1 Basil Cream & Rhubarb.

I really liked the Cinnabombe because it was simple yet hit the spot as a sweet treat. Itโ€™s light and fluffy on the inside, so you can really indulge and have a full one (or two!), and the exterior is coated in cinnamon sugar, which wasnโ€™t overly sweet. This tasted lovely both at room temperature and heated up in the oven.

The Basil Cream & Rhubarb was a slightly heavier dessert, as they really do not skimp on the cream filling. Unfortunately, the one I got missed out on its shot of rhubarb jam, so we only tasted the basil cream, which I found refreshing. When I posted a cross section photo of said Basil Cream & Rhubarb doughnut, the team at Sourbombe were quick to point out that it didnโ€™t have the rhubarb jam in it, which would explain why I didnโ€™t taste any rhubarb. Their customer service was great and they apologised for this but I enjoyed it nonetheless!

Would definitely try more flavours in the future, but will be sharing the filled ones, as they are a more filling treat vs the Cinnabombe.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on these ๐‘บ๐’๐’–๐’“๐’ƒ๐’๐’Ž๐’ƒ๐’† ๐‘บ๐’Š๐’ˆ๐’๐’‚๐’•๐’–๐’“๐’† ๐‘ฉ๐’๐’™ ๐’๐’‡ ๐‘ต๐’Š๐’๐’† twice through online pre-orders. The box of nine flavors are Cinnabombe, Lavender-Lime Mascarpone, Houjicha Caramel Crunch, Black Sesame Peanut Butter, Burnt Honey & Sage Walnut, Basil Cream & Rhubarb, Passionfruit & Caramelized Banana, Blueberry & Lemon Thyme and Basque Burnt Cheesecake.

My favorite flavors are Lavender-Lime Mascarpone and Passionfruit & Caramelized Bananas. These bombos are fluffy and soft and have a slight tang from the sourdough. The flavors were unique and the flavor combos paired well. However, I have to say that they should work on consistency as some bombos are golden brown and some were too pale. But they are worth a try!

Now let me tell you my favorite way to eat them, pop them in the fridge for a few hours then air fry at 180 degrees for 4mins. This leaves the bombos with a crispy exterior and a cold custardy filling.

Check out these coveted bombolinis from @sourbombebakery - if you manage to lay your hands on them! The hype is real and getting some of them is no easy feat.

Delectably tangy sourdough paired with ingenious flavour pairings and fillings, the standouts for me include their Basil Cream & Rhubarb - which I initially thought it tasted like pesto but it grew on me and I found it so unique. Their Basque Burnt Cheesecake was also pretty memorable - with a mixture of cream cheese and blue cheese for that added umami ommph. Their Blueberry & Lemon Thyme and Passionfruit Caramelized Banana were super delish as well and a nice reminiscence of a tropical summer.

Do hope to try their sourdough croissants next but I'm probably gonna wait for dem queues to die down for a bit before I do - I ain't no early bird unfortunately (more like a permanently exhausted pigeon oops.)

Finally, oh finally I have tried the coveted bombolinis from the one and only @sourbombebakery . The agony it was to get these bombes was real - having to meticulously wake up early just to make sure I could get my hands on them, having to keep watch of their stories to check if they were sold out. Oh lawd Jesus.

Having failed to get it on a couple occasions, I finally made a point to head down on an uneventful Tuesday morning, arriving at 9.30am. My mission was finally a success.

These babies are by none other than Masterchef Finalist Genevieve Lee, who started her sourdough bombolini business back last year. These bombolinis finally have a physical locale and are usually sold out so quick it'll make your head spin.

I do like the unique flavours offered, ranging from the intriguing Basil Rhubarb, Basque Burnt Cheesecake and Hojicha Caramel Crunch - to your usual more common flavours of Black Seasame, Blueberry Lemon Thyme and Passionfruit Banana. Most of them are a little subtle though such as the Hojicha and would prefer a more intense flavour. The sourdough also adds a slight tang to the bombolinis, which grew on me the more bites I took.

Were they worth the hype? Well, they are definitely good bombolinis, though I wouldn't subject myself to such torture of trying to get them again. (I even tried to get their sourdough croissants today but again I have failed. I need a break, hah, getting food shouldn't be this difficult.)

Best bombolinis in SG!!!!!!!! I love bombos but very often I find them too oily or not having enough of a chew, this hits all sweet spot.

Favourites: Passionfruit & Caramelised Banana, Basque Burnt Cheesecake

The bombs are naturally leavened and fried in 100% pure coconut oil. Apart from a slightly denser texture, taste isnโ€™t vastly different from regular doughnuts. The standout is the generous custards that isnโ€™t overly sweet.
