* This place has closed :( Please try somewhere else. * About Ssäm Ssäm means wrapped in Korean, though it traditionally refers to wrapped in lettuce leaves. What we we have is pieces of delicious meat delicately nestled between the bosoms of a warm tortilla and a spicy blend of pickled veg. This combination of Korean Galbi with Mexican salsa and spices is a match made in food heaven.

U get a choice of Base and you can mix anything i believe. I got the kimchi rice and cilantro lime rice. Took away so didnt feel the rice was anything special at all, tho it might be different if u eat it on the spot. Beef Short ribs were quite tender and fatty, though it doesnt seem like it needs 40hours to achieve. Meanwhile pork belly and shoulder were coated in a sweet red sauce. Lava egg was perfect tho, and they allow you to add all the toppings. Overall, decently satisfying but the portion was incredibly generous. Im a big eater and being completely hungry, i still almost couldnt finish it

This place was highly recommended by my boss since... last month? Haha... but I was too lazy to walk to MBFC to get my takeaway. Then, I found out that they have another outlet at golden shoe. Perfect walking distance for me, glad that I tried this. The pork belly was so awesome and I simply enjoyed the tangy flavour. I chose kimchi rice as my base. For those who are not too keen on having carbs or lesser carbs, you can opt for salad base or half rice and half salad base.

What I ordered:
1 x Pork Bowl = S$ 8.50
1 × Add Ramen Egg = S$ 0.80

Total Bill with 7% GST = S$ 9.95

Add the ramen egg for additional $0.80! The ramen egg was the highlight of my rice bowl! Very flavourful with a semi runny yolk in it!

The mix of flavours in this bowl was amazing! Never thought Korean Mexican fusion would produce such a good result! Every mouthful contains a mix of sweetness, tangyness, saltiness. Also, it is super filling and definitely makes a work day better! I'm already looking forward to my next lunch break which I can have this again.

Oh and there's another outlet now at Raffles Place near golden shoe!

Burpplers working in the CBD will appreciate this takeaway option. Located at the basement of Marina Bay Financial Centre, Ssäm (meaning 'wrapped' in Korean) crafts protein-packed bowls that will keep you fuelled throughout the day. It's one of the most massive bowls we've had — great for filling a big eater's tummy but small eaters might want to share this with a colleague. Head down early to snag their tasty cilantro lime rice and top it with the unbelievably tender 40-hour Korean BBQ marinated beef short ribs ($9.50). Unless you opt out, the bowl is completed with sides of tangy kimchi, tomato salsa, onion lime relish, pickled cucumbers, kimchi and seaweed, and topped with sesame seeds and fried shallots. Prices have been revised since our last visit and the new addition of portobello mushroom to the proteins section will excite mushroom lovers!

If you're craving for a meal with a medley of exciting flavours, this is a good place. I chose half kimchi rice and half salad as my base and beef short rib for my protein ($9.50). I love a spicy-sour combination, so the kimchi salsa, tomato radish and seasoned vegetables in this bowl were right up my alley. I didn't feel it was very spicy, actually I wish it had more of a kick. The beef short rib was very tender, as you'd expect from a 48 hour long cooking time. They are so generous with their ingredients so there's no question whether you'll get your money's worth dining here. Your palate is totally satisfied with this bowl -- there's sweet, spicy, sour and salty all covered here. Just one complaint: I wish the protein, at least, could be served hot. It's so flavourful now, imagine the flavours amplified!

Pork belly/shoulder rice bowl with cilantro lime rice. Hearty portion, generous amount of meat, flavour packed and only at $8! Really love the rice and can eat a whole bowl of it as it is 😋
