Starter Lab Bakery has been in my wishlisted places to visit for the longest time and I am glad to be finally able to experience it. Prior to this, my only visitation to Starter Lab was in Bali to grab a quick bite and it left a huge expression since.

This time round, we had the Rosie Mascarpone ($16) which totally blew my mind in terms of the flavour combination and texture. The rosemary sourdough toast had a nice tang and texture to it, pairing well with the generous spread of housemade mascarpone topped with roasted pistachios and rose petals. The finishing touch of raw honey gives it a nice overall sweetness without being cloyingly sweet. It was such an enjoyable toast experience that I am thinking of replicating it at home with the same sourdough toast.

It was a simple yet tasty open-faced sandwich. I like the combination of ricotta, avo and egg on fluffy and buttery brioche. I thought the addition of pickled whole peppers was also a really nice

They were generous with the ingredients and I enjoyed the flavour combination. I will get this again.

This was like a dessert toast with the addition of honey and burnt sugar. Love that they were generous with the nut butter. The country toast was crusty yet moist and chewy inside and goes really well with the toppings.

Like the flavour combination and bread. Will get this again.

Love that their pastries are really quite flaky outside. Even though there wasn’t any choc in some parts of the choc croissant, the choc was good and it wasn’t a big deal to me since I don’t like overly filled croissants anyway.

The white choc drizzle added a subtle sweetness to the plain croissant which I enjoyed.

Will get them again.

Believe it or not, this is my first time to Starter Lab ever since I heard of them (which was when they opened) 😅

On a rare off-day, this bustling bakery sits along an old neighbourhood but serves up simple yet tasty combinations of toasts.

With their assorted of bread options, ranging from seeded to fruity ones, you can choose to dine in or take-away your loaf choices.

Their Honeyed Mascarpone is made of rosemary toast (recommended pairing) topped with homemade mascarpone, honey from The Rare Honey Co, crushed walnuts & black sea salt. What you get is a sweet yet savoury combination of flavours, with an added crunch from the crushed walnuts. It's so so tasty & can be washed down with a side of white coffee.

We pre-ordered @starterlab.sg awhile back when Phase 2 had first started! We got their open-faced posh toasts and sandwiches to go for a weekend brunch!

First up we had the 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐞, 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐧𝐮𝐭 & 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 (𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲) $𝟏𝟒, which was generously lathered spread on the toast. The drizzle of honey really brought out the mascarpone, which was light and creamy. We really enjoyed the contrast in flavours and gobbled it up super quickly hehe. 😋

Next, we had the 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐋𝐀𝐁 𝟑 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐬𝐞 (𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲) $𝟏𝟗. Stuffed thick with 3 different cheeses (swipe to the last pic for the cross section), this was one of the best grilled cheeses we had!

Overall, we really enjoyed the toasts but… the price tag was a biiiiit steep. Is it really worth paying $19 for a grilled cheese? #lifequestions I guess we might return if we’re craving their sandwiches.
