Honey Mascarpone Toast on the even so popular sourdough from @starterlab.sg
With the bakery craze of 2020, sourdough and the like are hitting homes like hot cakes. The sourdough here has great flavor and depth and is well made. The cheese doesn’t feel too heavy with the drizzle of honey over and lots of crunch. My only gripe is that they over toasted the bread making the edges almost impossible to chew or bite off.
Monster has always been a big fan of sourdough

the honey mascarpone toast is really good ! and the Starter Lab 3 cheese👌🏼✨💣

Mortadella Sandwich ($18) (house-made mayo and elemental on focaccia) I like level of thickness for ham inside focaccia and tbh it got that fullness for brunch.

Country Sourdough Bread (whole) ($18) I felt that it's was quite much sour aftertaste and got that heaviness of bread's weight.

Visited Starter Lab w the parents the other day! It’s quite conveniently located near Tiong Bahru MRT and has a really cute interior that smells of freshly-baked bread and coffee - i mean... who doesn’t like that?? ☕️🍞

They’re a cafe from Bali, specializing in sourdough bread! I gotta say their bread is really one of the best I’ve tried in SG and despite the hefty price point - $16 for this Honey Marscapone Toast - it’s really pretty bomb 🔥😩

Verdict: 8.5/10 (super amazing bread & coffee but extremely $$$)

Where do I start...

Sourdough had a nice tang, but the texture was rather hard throughout, except the end that was thin that had a great crispy texture. Unfortunately it wasn't even in thickness so the texture had a great variance. Portion wasn't too big, but bread was thick so it's fillling. Mascarpone was good, nuts were there, and there's serious salt.

Theres random components that make it complex, primarily the salt but honestly I can't even say I enjoyed it. It's overkill and the complexity doesn't contribute to the taste. Nor does the obvious saltiness help the sweet profile.

Not my thing at all even if some components were good. Much less the ridiculous price tag
