This is another of our favourite dishes at Swee Choon, which comprises deep-fried tofu topped with pork floss on it. The exterior of the tofu is fried to a crisp while the inside still remains very soft. We love that the dish is also served hot although that means you should be careful when biting into it. For around $3+, it is enough to be shared amongst 2 to 3 pax!

This is not really like your usual dim sum dish but it is something we often get at Swee Choon anyway! Drunken chicken is basically steamed chicken that is chilled and soaked in shaoxing wine (花雕酒), which imbues the tender chicken meat with the taste of rice wine. The alcoholic flavour is pretty intense though, so you may not want to get it if you dont like the taste of shaoxing wine. Otherwise, we strongly encourage you to try this dish if you need something cold and savoury at Swee Choon, since $5.50 is pretty reasonable for this dish!

Another unique dim sum dish from Swee Choon which combines carrot cake with Mee sua, which is subsequently deep-fried! This is our must-try dish everytime we visit Swee Choon, as we love the crispy exterior and the Mee sua filling. However, the dish fills your tummy up really quickly (just imagine that as a bowl of mee sua), so it would be great if you have fellow diners to share this dish with.

Try Swee Choon's 小笼包 - a dumpling with pork and a really rich pork broth inside it. Do eat it when it's hot but do take a small bite first as you can easily get scolded by the broth inside it. Somehow, we are always able to pick up the baos without bursting them here because the skin appears to be quite firm! This is really useful because you won't waste the precious pork broth as a result of the 小笼包 bursting. $4 for 4 baos is really affordable and quite comparable to our favourite ones at Chinatown Complex Hawker Centre.

While we have seen 流沙包 at many dim sum restaurants in Singapore, this was our first time seeing one with a deep fried crispy exterior! The outer layer was really crispy while the inside contained hot salted egg yolk custard! Take note that the inside is really hot so you may want to break it open and let the egg yolk cool down a little first! Do give it a shot as this dim sum dish is really novel 😋

Finally visited Swee Choon after 2 years, and the place has expanded so much! Unfortunately the food didn’t really go beyond our expectations and many dishes were underwhelming.

Will highly recommend the 腐皮卷 and 叉烧包!
