I ate it a few days ago and I’m craving to go back again. 🤤🤤 I love their chilli and I wished I added more into my plate. For $8, they served me a plate with a lot of squid & 4 prawns. For $10, it was also 4 prawns but slightly more noodles. ⁣

🍽 is at 5 Lorong 29 Geylang Singapore (388060) ⁣

PRICE: $6 (Also available in $8/$10)

WAITING TIME: Less than 3 minutes on a weekday at 9.15pm

PRAWNS: 3

WOK HEI: OFF THE CHARTS. Never has there been a hokkien prawn mee with a stronger wok hei. NEVERRR.

CHILI: The wrong kind though. A total mismatch.

NOODLES TYPE: Yellow mee + thin bee hoon
(The amount of noodles in this $6 plate is honestly very little)

FRIED PORK LARD: Yes. But already soggy. Not crispy or crunchy.

Also comes with sotong and a lot of egg.
No pork belly.

Apparently they fry it with charcoal fire. Which explains why the smokiness is off the charts; the intense wok hei was immediately apparent from my first bite. Well, that and the billowing clouds of smoke that constantly streamed out of the kopitiam.

Apart from its deep smokey profile, the stock was also super robust which gave it a rich flavourfulness that only the top hokkien mees can boast of. It's the wet type, but not overly moist IMO (if you eat it fresh and hot), as every strand of perfeclty-fried bouncy noodle was well coated with an ample amount of the stock.

The sambal chili was maybe too sweet but it still gave a nice kick and helped cut through the heaviness. But aside from this, Swee Guan's rendition is crazy good and easily top 3 in SG for me.

The only thing that I don’t really enjoy fr this plate is the chilli, it’s a bit too sweet..
💰$8 / Medium. ( a bit pricey 😅).

This is probably one of the most satisfying plates of sinful goodness I've ever had. The hokkien mee literally screams wok hey.

In my opinion, I dare say this is probably the best hokkien mee you can find in Singapore, with Tiong Bahru Yi Sheng Fried Hokkien Mee coming in 2nd. The only issue is the steep price, as this small plate costs $6 already.

the wok hei so gao (charred taste so strong but in a good way) 😋 #jxeatsrecommend
