🚆 Nearest MRT: Lavender
🍴Thai Milk Tea ($7.80), Matcha Fujiro ($7.80)

In a quaint corner of the heavily industrial Cavan Road is the unassuming four-seater Sweets Craftsman. Sporting a homely interior with beige wood panelling and soft pastel colours, I felt as if I was the main character in a coming-of-age film set in the Taiwanese countryside in the early 2000s.

The staff who served us was cheerful, friendly, and happily described the gorgeous pastries on display. Charmed by the whimsical Mount Fuji decals on the rolls, we decided on the Matcha Fujiro and the Thai Milk Tea. The cream was light and fresh, nothing like the canned cream you get in supermarkets. The flavours were pretty subtle, but this meant that the rolls were light for something that was nearly 80% cream. I liked that the matcha taste was authentic, and appreciated the contrast between the mildly bitter matcha and the subtly sweet raspberry in the Matcha Fujiro. We were both surprised that the Thai Milk Tea flavour was not as heavy as the drink itself, and the staff eagerly explained that the stunning blue hue came naturally from the butterfly pea flower.

Overall, we really enjoyed our visit for the atmosphere, service and food! Do come early as there are only four seats inside (which also creates more intimate vibes) and ask the staff what is available that day, as the display counter is not big enough to fit everything. Undeniably, the prices are on the high side and may not be sustainable for students who earn very little (or nothing), but the rolls do make for a good treat once in a while. We’d definitely come back soon!

We tried 2 flavours, The Tieguanyin Fujiro and Azuki Matcha Fujiro.
We both prefer the azuki.
The Swiss roll is not as fluffy that I imagine, the cream was light and not sweet and a bit pricey for one slice of Swiss roll, but it needs skill to do this.
💰$7.8 each.

Soft fluffy roll with soft fluffy cream! Cream tasted exactly like its name - its bitter fragrance complemented the sweetness of the sponge. Got a little gelat halfway through with the amount of cream in this (more cream than sponge) - probably best to share this.

Cute aesthetics though, both the cake and the cafe, perfect for pictures.

Overall not too bad a roll - though the price point is slightly high.

The place boosts a cozy interior but with limited seating - only two tables with a pair of chairs each. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and fortunately managed to get seats.

So glad to have @sweetscraftsman ‘s beautiful Japanese Swiss roll 🇯🇵 within walking distance💕 got their matcha fujiro 🏔 🍵 which is super light and fluffy!🥰 love the cloud-like cream texture with lightly infused raspberry and matcha flavors☁️ overall it’s definitely achieve the spirit of Japanese pastry✨ was going to try their other pastries with foodies yest but wasn’t feeling well the last few days🥺✨ will check them out again soonnn.

This matcha fujiro is so pretty and captures the bittersweet matcha well with the light strawberry and whipped cream. It's wrapped in soft and moist matcha sponge cake. Reminds me of the kawaii dessert in Japan, and I guess this is the closest we can get to there given this time. ($7.80)
