Red bean soup with glutinous ball (~$3): too powdery and glutinous ball was too squishy and soft 😔

Ig @goodfomood

Rock Melon Sago (~$3.30): I physically could not... stop myself from eating this... 😛 Rock melon taste was fragrant and the texture of the coconut milk/sago soup was crazily smooth and not heavy like many others I’ve tried. Also, this is such a unique flavour!!! 🍈🍈 Sago portion was not a lot but it wasn’t lacking 👌🏻

Ig @goodfomood

French Toast (~$1.80 sgd) was fried, eggy, and buttery on the outside, and STUFFED (and I mean stuffed fully) with sinful but yummy chunky peanut butter on the inside 🥜🍞 One of the better HK style French toasts I’ve tried, the only complaint I had was that the bread crust was undone and tasteless :-(

Ig @goodfomood

Not recommended: Egg Tarts (~$2 sgd for 2): the crust was good and done very nicely flaky but!!! The custard was disappointing :-( it wasn’t eggy, and had a weird cream- like texture as opposed to custard texture 🥧🍳

Totally feeling like I’m back in my 2nd home without jetting off! The recently opened unique bing sutt style cafe @syst_hv has all it takes to instantly transport you to Mongkok, Causeway Bay or Wan Chai with its 1950s half-century old dining theme (✨swipe next!!)
.
You can also count on having classic Hong Kong-inspired comfort food comprising of mainly desserts such as steamed milk pudding, snacks like curry fishballs & egg tarts, as well as options of mains from French toast to macaroni soup.
.
I had the 💕Sweet Potato w/ Ginger Soup & Glutinuous Ball (RM9.50) and I swear there’re probably no cafe in Singapore that can fight this simple yet powerful recipe. Though I do have my reservations on their Macaroni w/ Ham (RM11.90) probably due to my high expectations (can’t blame me someone who’ve had that dish at least 3-5 times a week when she was living in actual Hong Kong). So give them a shot! Because the next time I’m back I certainly hope to try their Curry Fishballs (RM6.90) which I’ve missed dearly (no verdict yet as they weren’t available when I visited).

Nestled away on the second floor of Holiday Villa is the traditional replica of a Chinese dessert teahouse. I drove around Holiday Plaza a few times before we spotted it's colourful neon signage peeking out along the window strip!

The mango pomelo sago and honeydew sago were pretty good and the use of santan enhanced the flavours further!

Best of all, we were there at 11.30pm in the morning and this place opens till 2am! Great for weeknight hangouts! 📸: @michellechun_
