In this photo, chirashi don from my birthday dinner two nights ago thanks to @kenwashio for the treat, and accommodating to my request to go to this Japanese restaurant. I've finally tried their premium 8 course dinner menu plus several ala carte dishes that I've always wanted to try, including their wagyu shabu shabu 😋

What made this place very special is their restaurant manager Mr Kok Chee Wai. He delivers service that meets/exceeds the Japanese standards, but with human touch. So he feels like a friend to you, and one who makes sure you are very well taken care of when you're in SYUN.

Went down to Syun and RWS one fine Saturday afternoon and ordered the premium nigiri sushi lunch set ($72). It came with 8 different kinds of sushi, served with miso soup, chawanmushi and salad.

The fish was very fresh and the rice was well seasoned. I enjoyed the selection of sushi, and the great service made me feel as if I was transported back to Japan!

The chawanmushi had a great texture, and included prawn, chicken, ginkgo nut and mushroom.

For the price, it was a fantastic meal. Pity the set didn't come with desert!

The best of both worlds, when you have unagi and foie gras in the same dish. In fact, every other component here was done really well too.

The fresh, soft and mild savoury unagi came with a slightly charred and clean tasting foie gras that had a distinctive buttery liver taste.. absolutely delightful. But everything else here was good too - the rice was moist and came with bits of egg, the chawanmushi had a perfect texture that bursts as liquid as soon as it touches the mouth, and the miso soup had additional dimensions of sweetness and zest to it, probably due to the use of onions and some tomatoes.

I'm very happy with this, and the chef's attention to details for the supporting cast in this dish.

The freshness and quality of fish is definitely on point but I preferred the salmon, which has a softer texture, between the two.

Refreshing, light salad with super fresh ikura and salmon bites. A great start to the meal!
