kyoto-style ramen consists of a shoyu broth with pork bones and chicken bones. Add thick, straight noodles and sliced pork and you have a hearty meal. the version at honke daiichiasahi is done really well - there is a perpetual queue and it opens from 5am til 2am!

We ventured to this popular ramen shop for supper on our last night in Kyoto. Established in 1947, they serve a simple yet savoury shoyu (soy sauce) ramen with an abundance of thinly sliced tender pork. #kyototravel #happybelly #noramennolife #latergram #burpple

So it resulted in 30 min wait 😂
With only 1 type of Ramen in 3 different sizes (mini at $550 Yen, standard at $700 Yen, extra large/special at $850 Yen), the broth is tonkotsu shoyu style, served with roasted pork with fatty and majority lean meat (Chutaikan, also known as female pigs), specially blended noodles, Kujo-negi (spring onions) and mung beansprouts. 😬
Love the noodles! And strangely while the soup is on the saltier side, you can still enjoy the richness of the shoyu flavour. Addictive and perhaps good for 重口味 (people who prefer stronger flavours) like myself 🤤
AND OH, I don’t usually eat beansprouts, but their version is really crunchier and plumpier! 🤩
