The chicken Pongteh lacked punch and a decent dose of “Tao Chioh”. The chicken lacked that pork sweetness associated with the dish but the dish was already done for when the ingredient proportions in gravy were not followed. Their chap Chye was much better. The rave reviews of Ta Chi, one of the stalwarts in Peranakan Cuisine in Melaka does not live up to its reputation.
