Wont associate Kovan with the words "Japanese Izakaya" but this place proved me otherwise - affordable Japanese fare tucked in a quiet neighbourhood - the decor and music played transported me back to my days in Tokyo looking for cheap and fantastic food.

The pork belly stood out here by a mile - ordered a second round and easily could have went for a 3rd. The wide variety of small bites was another clincher for me.

Definitely a place to head to if you are around the area. Oh yeah - service was prompt as well, thats a plus for me.

Pleasant experience with great ambiance. I had the Ribeye beef don and Mentai Tiger Prawn which very tasty and I highly recommend. Great service and would definitely come back to dine again! :)

Had the unatama don egg and eel which was a generous serving of eel. Large and thick chunks of tasty well seasoned eel that was not over seasoned either. Great atmosphere too.

This izakaya place is conveniently located near the MRT Station and easily accessible. I came here with my girlfriend and we both enjoyed the food! The skewers were large and delicious (we ordered the tiger prawns, ribeye beef and pork belly + leek). The cheese mentaiko scallop were also plump and had a nice smokey flavour. Definitely a unique izakaya experience in Singapore!

Pretty affordable and conveniently located in the heartlands, but still an authentic izakaya experience! The sashimi was very fresh, and the salty mentaiko added a good contrast to the sweet tamago. The most interesting dish would have to be the dried stingray, because I’ve never tried anything like it. It was sweet and has a similar texture to dried fish. Would definitely patronise again!

Highly recommend Tachinomiya Japanese Izakaya & Bar. This unassuming neighbourhood restaurant serves affordably priced japanese food. Tried their skewers and my favourite were wagyu and mushroom skewers which simply melts in your mouth.

Was feeling like trying something new and went for the backed scallop. Was really fresh and well done. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. Will be back when I'm in the neighbourhood 👍
