Came as part of my set lunch for the dessert, a guilt-free cheesecake that made from tofu. So you could expect a very soft and fluffy tofu dessert here.

A quiet place to have lunch on weekdays, especially with their weekday set lunch promotion.

For about $20+, you could have their chicken katsu & egg don together with miso soup, salad, iced lemon tea and dessert of the day.

The chicken katsu actually came in big portion, although the rice was a bit lesser than I expected; with the egg simmered in bonito sauce on it. The rice was said to be coming from Japan.

Chicken stew don @ $12.90++

Yet another average dish which made me wonder if any elements is made in house or are they all assembled from the shelf, including the chicken, the brocoli, the mushroom and most disappointingly, the sauce. Even the egg, which is what it's supposed to be well known for, isn't great at all.

Unatama don @ $15.90++

The bowl looks big but it's not very deep. So I can't even say the price is worth it for the portion. Especially given that the taste of it is so average.

Quite disappointed as it is my first time trying and had high expectations from this restaurant chain.

Hadn’t been out of the house and about in then neighbourhood for quite a while ever since Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) started, so I was pretty stumped that there is a new Tamago-En around the neighbourhood that replaced a Subway outpost in Causeway Point (not too much of a loss for me anyway; there’s a relatively new branch nearer to me anyway).

Remembered how I actually queued up for Tamago-En when the concept first launched at NEX; also a surprise discovery when we were walking around the mall wondering what to have. Since I have already had my dinner, and also recalling how I didn’t really enjoyed their Ultimate Egg Rice, I have decided to go for just dessert this time round — opted for the White Peach Soufflé Pancake, which was also labelled “new” on the menu.

There are few places that actually do consistently good soufflé pancakes around, and Tamago-En is one of the places which I found to be rather consistent; and of a good nature. The soufflé pancakes here is really what I would expect out of a good rendition — jiggly, wobbly and airy; its melt-in-the-mouth, bearing a similar texture to the fresh cream that is piped over the soufflé pancakes, not too dense and subtly sweet. Liked how they were pretty controlled with the caramel drizzle; not overly saccharine and just enough to bring it to a level of sweetness suitable as a dessert, whilst the poached peaches does carry a soft bite; still fibrous, but not too crunchy to cause an inconsistent texture with the soufflé pancakes. They are also seemingly generous with the poached peach here — apart from the halved peach over the top, there is another half hidden in between the two pancakes; not forgetting the diced ones served as a garnish on the side. The addition of walnuts gave the dessert an extra crunch in terms of texture — a great addition for just the right contrast.

Woodlands has always been this area that felt rather boring in terms of food choices — something that seem very detached with its young demographic. That being said, the recent entrants to the F&B scene, like Tamago-En, seems to give the area of breath of new life; a dining spot which residents will treasure.
