1 veg + 1 meat + 1 egg @ $4.50

Came a bit late and there's no more curry chicken, so had the braised meat instead. Auntie was nice and generous with it, and it tastes good too! It was tasty and the meat was soft and tender.

Asked for curry sauce and it's good too. The veggie and egg are average. The chilli can be a bit sour, might not go well with some dishes.

Curry chicken, pork chop, chap chye. I would say this is not strictly curry rice as we know it, but it's old-school and run by old folks. More like traditional Singaporean caifan. None of my dishes can really be described as outstanding.

The queue is always long especially during lunch hours. Even though you may not have their curry dishes you should ask for curry as your gravy for the rice. It’s a typical Hainanese curry. If you want to add spice to your rice then get the sambal chilli sauce when you take your food away. It’s sedap!

Curry chicken - It was rich, creamy and had a decent amount of coconut milk.

I've been eating curry rice from this stall for almost 39 years. A humble looking stall, no posters of awards nor TV endorsements, except a snaking queue of regulars who stay around Hougang.
🔸
This isn't the Hainanese curry rice with starchy curry, fried pork cutlet and braised pork. It's home style curry with sides mostly cooked for long hours till they're soft. It may not be as shiok as other famous Hainanese curry rice, but these are the things you can eat daily and not get sick of. My favourite item is the curry which is milky, thick, sweet and not really spicy; the sotong with chilli; and the potent sambal chilli which you must get from the side on your own. The chilli used to be made by the owner's grandma, but I suspect the grandma has passed on since the taste of chilli has changed slightly. It's been 30 years after all.

This stall isn't well known outside Hougang, but most staying there knows it. I'm also glad this stall has survived for 3 decades. I need to continue eating this so hope it'll be around for another 50 years.

Well if you like eating chilli, this would be one of the greatest challenge of all time. They have the spiciest belachan I ever tasted in my life. Sends me to the nearest drink stall every time
